Crikey! You have a lot going on.

Teenagers are not the easiest of creatures are they? I have 3 to try and keep happy. Are you quitting cold turkey or another method?

You really do have a lot to contend with don't you Tracey? Poor you- it can't be easy. However, you're quite right in that you have very powerful motivations to quit and your children (even your son when he grows out of being Kevin the Teenager :)) will be proud of you (and will hopefully never have to worry about you the way you are having to worry about your poor mum :().

Dig in, hold on, read, post, join in and we'll all be here to support you. :)

Hi Tracy, my Dad had half his left lung removed due cancer from a whole adult life of smoking - that was just over a year ago and, I think, the biggest slap in the face for me to quit - just seeing him in hospital looking like a matchstick man when he'd always been my big, strong Dad, who'd only ever had an occasional cold, was heartbreaking, so I can really empathise with you, I was never lucky enough to have children but I can imagine they are the total centre of your world and they need you around for as long as possible. You can, and will, do this - good luck;)

Hi Tracey

Hope you are braving up and congratulating yourself for having gotten thus far. You have reasons to start smoking, if you making them into reasons! But deep down you know there is NO reason. Seeing your mother so poorly, surely is a wake-up call if there ever was one. Once equipped with the right reasoning, you cannot walk away from it. You don't, god forbid, want to be in a life and death situation and have to tell yourself that it is your fault. Harsh words, apologies, but life does not do 'nice' at our wish.

Be strong for yourself and your mother. AND make your kiddies proud.

Best of luck
