Well...... here we are again, some of u may remember me from my last quit, did 8 weeks from 28th October and caved on 19th December, however I am back on the horse today no point pussy footing around waiting for months to go for it again it's just prolonging the agony ( although I could quite easily put it off and make excuses)

Can u actually believe I was going to wait til New Year's Day just so I could join a social group and have quit buddies blimey I don't know..... :)

Will admit not very motivated BUT I know from past experiences that the longer u leave it the harder it is so here goes!

Hey, what im about to say isnt ment to put you off but are you doing this because you feel you should or because you want to? or both? Because some times we get so consumed with 'I need to quit' we forget if we actually want to or not! sounds stupid I know but thats what happened to me and from your post I get the feeling your so disapointed from the last time that you are using the 'i should quit' as your driving force rather than I want to.

You will only succeed if you want it and thats the bottom line, if you want it you cant fail. Think about it, when someone lapses they only do because in that moment the thought of wanting to smoke takes over the thoughts of i dont want to smoke. Its all about what you want.

Anyways I just wanted to give you this pointer. Im sure you can do it you done so well before xxx

Your right my motivation isn't great but I know I can do it just have to put my mind to it, I need to do it ASAP because if I leave it any longer it will become more difficult again, I have been smoking about 5 a day since 19th December so I'm hoping it will be a bit easier than in October, I'm too scared to leave it any longer I need to do it, I might start with patches tho to ease myself in or those new niquitin strips x

Hi Donna - I'm a fairly new quitter and agree with Nikki, I've had quits in the past where I felt I should give up and they have been really hard - all I did was think about smoking from the minute I got up until I went to bed - longest one for just over 6 months before I smoked. The hardest 6 months ever :(

This quit I decided I WANT TO QUIT and I promise you, so far (touch wood) it's been ok, I haven't got the constant nic on my shoulder telling me - go on just one!! I feel like a no smoker now and I'm loving it.

You can do this - behind you all the way x

Donna,

Just look at yourself.

One HOUR ago, you were posting how silly to delay until New Year's day - and here you are, putting it off until New Year's day.

Just look at yourself.

Joined in 2008, and here we are on the verge of 2014, SIX YEARS on, and you're still 'planning'.

SERIAL QUITTING IS A HORRIBLE PLACE TO BE, BUT CAN LAST FOREVER!

Please believe me when I say there is no one who would rather see you succeed that me, because I know how much it means to succeed; however, I won't wish you luck, because luck doesn't come into it - success is completely within your grasp, and yours alone. No-one can do this for you, you have to do it for yourself.

If your heart's not in it then don't even bother. This has to be the most important thing in your life for the next few months - the forum is here to support you but there has to come a point, six years on for you, where sugar coated messages like 'never mind, dust yourself down' just don't cut it anymore.

Donna, PLEASE PLEASE take a long look at where you are and accept that now is the time to up your game big time and do this once and for all - you, and all of us, will only ever have one successful quit, so make sure this is the one.

Hi Donna,

My (many) previous quits lasted all of 48 hours and I honestly thought I was too weak- willed to ever be able to stop. If you've managed 7-8 weeks previously (twice as long as I have have managed on this quit- which WILL be my final quit) you can go the distance. I know you can.

I agree with previous posters though that you have to really, really, really want to do it, more than you want anything else (that has certainly been the difference with me this time). I'm sure you don't need me (so early on my own journey) to tell you that but for what it is worth I think it's the truth.

May your journey be a successful one..:)
