Morning campers!

Finding it hard to sleep but understand that's all part of the withdrawal process???

At least I have woken up to what is in my experience, a modern day miracle! If I was a morning person (groan) I certainly would he doing cartwheels around the living room...

One thing I'm conscious of is that this will be my first weekend of abstinence, and I'll have a lot more time on my hands than being at work, obviously. How did you guys go into your first weekend?

Good Morning, I cleaned the house from top to bottom, did loads of jumping jacks, watered the plants, went for about 10 walks, brushed my teeth about 30 times and generally tried to keep myself really busy. Good Luck ;)

Thank you Jenni. I've started a to-do list which is now as long as your arm! The flat won't know what's hit it! Great advice...

Morning Badge,

I had an old coal box which I took all the brass fittings off and polished up and rubbed down the box and stained it, this kept me busy all day and i felt a great sense of achievement when it was finished! Just find something to keep you busy, it does get easier and you have done really well!

Hello Badge,

You really are doing brilliantly you know :)

Yes, first weekend can be a bit challenging (it's never as hard again). The advice you've received is spot on. Try a good long walk too (exercise releases endorphins which makes you feel better generally) and don't forget to indulge yourself with some nice treats as well. I found facials and hair treatments were good.

BadgePup,

You remind me so much of me, it's spooky!

YOU'RE DOING BRILL :)

Steve

PS Excuse the flowery language, but you asked how we felt during our first weekend. And as you can see, I felt particularly pretentious:

Excellent thread Steve. The image of Nick O'Demon attempting to trampoline over your ever growing wall is hilarious but also unfortunately very much how I've felt for most of today.

In compensation for staving off temptation, I have consumed half my body weight in chocolate and the other half in crisps......stunningly healthy NOT! But I'm learning not to be too harsh on myself in the middle of a major modern day miracle. It was bleedin' Biscuit Friday in the office today and someone bought two packets of those chocolate finger variety, and I found myself holding one of them (before its rapid consumption) between the first and second fingers on my right hand..it's a wonder I didn't place it between my lips then search for a lighter - I kid you not!

Anyway, on the good advice of the wonderful people here, I've drawn up a schedule for my first smoke-free weekend that would keep the entire British Army occupied for a month, so hopefully there'll be no wriggle room for the inhalation of deceitful white tubes...

I'm hanging on to the fact that in about 48 hours time, that'll be one whole week free from the compulsion and addiction of smoking...that's what I'm aiming for!!

Loving the 'Major Modern Day Miracle' theme!!

It's so good, it needs to be abbreviated:

"M-squared D M" (hmm, clever but doesn't trip off the tongue)

"Double M D M" (better)

"It's a double m d m"

"It's a major modern day miracle"

Wow. Sorry...thinking out loud :)

Hee hee Steve and Helene (sorry, don't know how to do acute and grave accents!,)...I'm sure we can come up with plenty of acronyms for a Quitter's Dictionary.

And in a parallel universe I'd LOVE to cleaning your house from top to bottom Helene. Only problem is I hate cleaning, with a passion, so doing mine will be a Double MDM (not that I live in Dickensian squalor or anything - I just get grumpy when I have to don Marigolds).Yay! A double-grumpy weekend: through nicotine withdrawal and house cleaning - JOY! ;) ;)

Morning Badge :)

How's it going? Bet the house is beginning to sparkle like a Cilit Bang advert by now. :D

Do take some time to get out into the lovely sunshine too (on the presumption the weather is as good with you as it is here) and soak up some rays.

Best wishes from me for a lovely (and crave-free) Saturday. Nearly a whole week under your belt- how splendid is that? :)
