Day 18 Newbie here.

Well, it's 18 days since my last cigarette. The first week or so was easy. I went Cold Turkey and thought it was a doddle. However the past few days I'm getting cravings all the time and was seriously thinking about buying some today but I didn't. The trouble is I feel like I'm missing something good, as if I'm depriving myself of a treat and that my life is sad and boring without a cigarette. But then I realise that it's just the addiction and I must stay strong and NOT BUY ANY otherwise I will be back where I started.

Well done on day 18.

Takes a bit of spade work but the longer you remain a non smoker the quicker that empty feeling will go. Get the right mindset and its so much easier.

Your doing great :)

Thank you Jenny and Tracey for the welcome. This is the first time I have seriously tried to quit because if I don't do it now I never will. I always used to think I was a social smoker who wasn't really addicted and wasn't really damaging my health! But over the last couple of years I've had more colds and flu's than I used to have. My pulse rate was always fast and I've started having a smokers cough so knew that it was catching up with me and I must stop now. My pulse rate has slowed down a bit since I stopped. My cough has gone, although I've had a sore throat on and off for a couple of weeks but I feel loads better, much healthier and know I must stay strong.

Thanks Lucy, I am determined and am trying to change my mindset to feeling I am lucky to escape the dreaded weed instead of feeling I am missing something which of course I know I'm not.

Welcome Louis and well done for getting so far:)

I felt like you every day 3 wks in but because I didn't want to smoke and because I didn't want to go back there.....ever.....I stuck with it.

From here on in its all in the mind which way it goes.

Try to get a copy of Allen Carr to reinforce your quit reasons ...good luck you can do this :)
