Week 3

I have arrived, by hook or by crook - new territory is not too far ahead for me now.

So - reasons to be optimistic.

Cigarettes were purchased today, and stared at, and smelled, and hidden, and unhidden.

Let us start that again, changing the grammar!!

I purchased cigarettes today - it wasn't done to me, I did it myself - I have also soaked them all in water - unsmoked - all ten.

I currently seem to be mourning them, and have been known to take a hair dryer to soaked ciggies before now (YUK!!) - they are crushed beyond hope - so at least I learned a little on my way here!

I am feeling overly sorry for myself but am kinda going with the moment and indulging in self pity........

The wiser me, that has been here before and failed, hopes the rubicon is now crossed.

Thank you all

M

You are really testing yourself Mina - but you're coming through those tests with gold stars.

You can and will get through this, you are a strong person. Into week 3 now.

Sending positive healing thoughts. bb x

I love this quote as an allegory to quitting.

"You attend the funeral, you bid the dead farewell. You grieve. Then you continue with your life. And at times the fact of her absence will hit you like a blow to the chest, and you will weep. But this will happen less and less as time goes on. She is dead. You are alive. So live."

-- Neil Gaiman

Mina, you're smart enough to see the truth in this ^ as related to quitting.

You're doing FAB, by the way :)

You said it all right there...you have the strength to destroy the cigarettes when they are right in front of you, therefore, you have got the strength and willpower to quit permanently. Look at that as a test and you passed with flying colours.

never a truer word spoken....

you have far more strength than you realise... to buy them, not smoke them and bin them all takes an enormous amount of strength.... you are definitely not alone in this struggle hun....... look back at your posts from a few days ago, the trip to the garden centre, planting your flowers, your lovely hot delicious smelling coffee.... they helped me no end to see the bigger picture... that Mina is still there come on my babber!!! keep at it xxxxx

Well done Mina. I too have rolled cigarettes and then destroyed.. 3 in fact, in 3 weeks of quitting. By not smoking those cigarettes you are showing to yourself that you do not want to smoke anymore, and that you are in control of your actions ....you are doing brilliantly and you must keep going xxxxx
