Hello everyone... i felt like introducing my self to you..

I have been smoking for 10 years around 40 cigs a day..sometimes even more..i remember some specific days i was smoking even more..like 80-90...seriously...

One pack of tobacco 25 grams old holborn..and then before going out clubbing it was empty so i was getting my winston lights(blue) and it was done by 3am and i was switching to malboro lights until 8am...

A crazy disgusting smoker who could not sleep at night..coughing drops of blood sometimes in the morning etc..

So i decided to quit 33 days ago..cold turkey..no gums..no patches..nothing..

had all the kind of withdrawal symptoms you can imagine..and still do have some..(constipation..mild depression ,fatigue, insomnia etc) But i have never been healthier..

Although it is difficult because i feel so miserable without my nicotine..i am think that something is missing or what so ever..something that will make my psychology and the way i feel better.. I know that my brain needs dopamine to feel good and that this nicotine drug was helping with that..

But does it ever go away? Will i be free from that feeling of being depressed because i don't have my nicotine induced dopamine??

Thank you all!!!

Hi Dj,

Welcome to the forum- it's very good to meet you and you've come to the right place as we're all in this together and everyone is lovely.

What a fantastic achievement! To successfully go CT after smoking as heavily as you did shows great determination, stamina and guts. I am always in awe of anyone who can quit without some sort of support and I take my hat off to you. :D

Re that feeling of emptiness and mild depression- yes, I promise it does go away. I'm just starting out on month 3 and I hardly ever feel that way now. Our brains gradually readjust.

Well done though!

Thanks guys for the replies. I hope that feeling will go away eventually..

I don't want to start smoking again and die you...

With the way i was smoking my average life expectancy should be less than 20 years than the normal. I don't want to die in my 50s and i am thinking that i am still young (I am 27.5) so any damage that i have already done if i quit will dissappear when i reach 40-50 hopefully..

Who knows... :P
