I don't know why but since I have quit smoking I am more aware of my health and I worry about it more, like the chesty cough, the IBS etc... Used to be more carefree before, maybe it's because I have more time to think? Anyone else know what I mean?
Health worries?: I don't know why but since I... - No Smoking Day
Health worries?
That was sort of true for me too. I didn't really worry about any of the usual symptoms that quitting brings to many of us, I just knew they would be miserable for a short time and then disappear so didn't see the need to report a daily log of them. Anything out of the norm I would have checked up on whether smoking related or not. If you are worried about anything I always suggest asking the professionals, trawling the net yourself usually ends up worrying yourself more!
I think it's more of a psychological thing where we have quit smoking...when I had a hacking cough with smoking, it was exactly that because I was smoking, but now we're not it's like over analysing a bit...why have I got this if I've stopped smoking..know what I mean? I'm not a fruit loop honest hahaha
You're right Donna, and I think it's inevitable that (especially) during the early stages of a quit we are all particularly 'heath aware' - and plenty of people feel worried early on by various symptoms, but just wait until you're three months down the line and you'll feel fan-bloomin'-tastic!

Ah, thanks Egg that's EXACTLY what I am hoping
I'm a bit of a worrier about my health (although it's normally justified - I suffer from quite a few annoying little ailments) so I can certainly empathise.
I am still coughing quite a bit too, and still coughing up brownish goo (yum) - apparently it can take up to 2-3 months to improve. If I'm still coughing after 2 months then I'll go see my GP just to get their advice as it's always better to be safe than sorry, and that's what they're there for
Also if you're concerned about IBS and haven't been to the GP with it yet then it would definitely be worth going IMO as IBS-like symptoms can be any number of things such as Crohn's, gluten intolerance, lactose intolerance etc.

Thanks Scarlett I have spoken to GP I have had IBS on and off for 15 years he has said it's the stress of quitting that has flared up the symptoms, even though I don't feel stressed my body is obviously wondering what the heck is going on, hopefully when I am further into my quit it will settle, it's annoying more than anything, like permanent PMT cramps and I can barely squeeze into my jeans as I am so bloated, and do you know in previous quits when it has started up (which it always does) I have used it as an excuse.. " oh I'm going to get some fags I can't cope with this pain/bloating/heartburn/cough/bleeding gums... The list goes on and on BUT oddly enough this time through determination and reading other peoples posts I realise it will fade and I have no desire to get cigarettes whatsoever!... I really don't know how I have changed so much or why but maybe this time IS my time

I believe it is your time Donna.
