Well it's been one heck of a 6 months and I'm finally here! I know you have all been waiting for me and I'm sorry it took so long. My stay will be a breif 6 more months before upgrading to the PENTHOUSE!
As a smoker, I don't think I ever conceived of not smoking for 6 months. I'm not sure I really knew what it meant to quit. I definitely did not remember what it was like to be a non smoker. I'm so happy I finally dedicated myself to quitting, thanks in huge part to the birth of my daughter. She is 4 months old now and I am 6 months quit. It's a new life for both of us and I intend to be around to keep men away from her until she's about 60 (jk :))
The thought that keeps sticking in my head is that I wish I would have stuck with a previous quit, then I would have been much further along. At the same time, everyone has to start somewhere, and I am happy that it has finally happened!
So to all the newbie quitters out there reading this, start now and stick to it, you only have to go through the tough parts once. After that it's a thing of the past and the memory fades every day.

My little girl IS the best thing going! She makes me wish I would have had kids sooner too, but I know this all happened for a reason, and I am so proud of her.
Sara - You'll have to let me know since you will beat me there no matter how hard I try to catch up!

You won't be far behind me though so we can celebrate together when you get there!!
Brilliant news! I can relate to your circumstances as the main reason I quite was for my 5 month old son (plus I hit the 6 months point a few days before you, great to see you here in the 6 month room! :)), we can both take great pride in the fact our offspring won't know us as a smoker Really chuffed for you amigo.
Thanks for all your responses. I relied on this forum to help me through the early days. I really appreciate all the positivity!
Doofus - Great to hear you are still at it after all this time, and I'm really happy for you too! Life is busy enough with the little one and not worring about my next cig all the time is HUGE. I am really proud she will know me as a non-smoker, they are so sensitive to everything when they are so small and I really didn't want to be smokey Dad and having her smell it on me all the time.
