Things are Definitely Changing

What a difference a couple of months can make. I have just done my first visit into town for Christmas Shopping and the only thing I thought about as a treat for getting through the stress of crowded shops, was a bacon and cheese wrap from Greggs. I have to admit, I had a couple of real thoughts about smoking;

1 When someone had just had one and walked close to me in a shop

2 When I had to walk through a cloud of smoke to get into a shop.

Each was a thought of disgust, I must have pulled a face as the OH reminded me that was me last year. :o But one thing I was never supersensitive to before but am now, some people really need to shower more :mad: The upshot of it is, I actually managed a Saturday afternoon in town, a couple of weeks before Christmas, without crying, stressing or threatening to kill someone - cool :cool: - Such a difference from the year I got so stressed I actually forgot my way home LOL

That's really good Jen. Like you I could never have done the xmas crowds without "stressing" and lighting up.

Today I did a tour of the town not really buying just looking and really didn't get the stress thing at all. Only time I thought about smoking was on the train there where a gentleman got on and had obviously just had one.

For me I deffo think the fags were causing stress/anxiety not solving it.

Well done ;)

That's great to hear Jen :)

When the positives start coming thick and fast it reminds us what all the hard work and effort is for. Also helps to keep us on the straight and narrow when we can remind ourselves of what we love about being non-smokers!

Glad your shopping trip went well :D x

Jennie, that is brilliant, really it is. I know what you mean about the treat thing, but it used to bug me I could choose a coffee OR a ciggerette, so I would have to get out of the shopping center to stand at the door to smoke. Then when I had my coffee, blooming hell I would want another one. Stiffler was right when he said smoking made us more stressed .

I completely agree with this. From the moment I used to put a fag out I was thinking about when I was going to have the next one. No wonder we were all stressed and anxious every waking minute. :mad: Who'd want to go back to that ......yuk :mad:. It's the stuff of nightmares! :eek:

You are so right, I used to slag off my OH for not putting enough baccy in the rollie and as soon as I'd finished I wanted another one - what a sucker eh :confused: And town shopping used to drive me absolutely bonkers - not this time, I'm even on my way to Cwmbran now :D

I always find you inspirational. I don't go to Gregg's now since they don't serve anything hot thanks to the stupid changes by the ex government.

You did what a normal non smoker would do ie got food. How amazing is that :)

Awww, I'm blushing now Karri :o

Did they actually change the hot food law then because they still serve hot stuff and I don't think they charge any more for it?

We had MacD today, no longer a favourite of mine :p
