Following my triumphant post, the idiot OH has bought a cigar and intends to smoke it to "See what happens" Excuse my language but - effin idiot - I Hate you
Update: Following my triumphant post, the... - No Smoking Day
Update
It's his call Jen, and as infuriating as it is, his quit doesn't affect yours. But a cigar after 12 weeks? What a plum  Still, it might be me one day so I'm not getting too critical about it! And well done on 16 weeks
Why a cigar they smell worse than a fag just gagging thinking about it x
They're rancid!!
Hope he smoked it outside, and that he doesn't do it again, believe me it's far easier to get re-hooked than you think :(:(
Agree with Max, the trouble is that one easily leads to another when out drinking, upset, happy, etc, etc.
You show him that you're better than that
then a tin of cafe creme cigars, which became one a day then I thought 'this is killing my throat!!!' so went back to roll ups.
Isn't smoker's logic weird?
Now I am calm (er) I can report that the stinking git did smoke it outside but still made me gag with the stench coming off him on his return. He said it was "fun" but not quite what he expected - whatever  I refused to join in the conversation and just told him to stay away from me as he was making me feel ill and he can smoke himself to death, but I won't join him and I'm really not interested in how it felt - and bizarrely, now I've slept on it, I'm just not bothered, I'm still going strong and him smoking only affects my sense of smell, not my quit. I still think he's an effin idiot, but hey ho
Brilliant Jen, you showed him what it means to be quit, not one puff ever! This is your baby so hang on tight to it! If he's sliding into the trap again, there's not much you can do about it except stand tall and enjoy your freedom!
I'll bet he didn't like being told to stay away because he was making you feel ill though. Hopefully, even if he doesn't admit it, that will have given him something to think about.
I'm so pleased that it has ramped up your determination Jen although, I must admit, having read your posts, I'm not at all surprised :D. You strike as the kind of person who will take adversity and turn it into strength.
Fingers crossed that last night will be a one off and he's back on with his quit.
'One cigar' was always my route back into smoking after I tried to quit
'One cigar' usually a Hamlet, would be an occasional 'treat'. After a few weeks that occasional one became one a week became one a day then a tin of cafe creme cigars, which became one a day then I thought 'this is killing my throat!!!' so went back to roll ups.
Deadly,in my opinion,the 'ONE CIGAR'
Been there done that until I realised that NOPE is the only way
Just out of curiosity has he smoked since or has he seen sense.
I don't think so, he hasn't said anything and I haven't detected that distinctive tobacco aroma - tbh I think he would be too scared to tell me as before I calmed down I did threaten all sorts including removing his gentleman vegetables and rolling them up for him to set fire to
I soooooooooooooo needed a laugh and that just cracked me up! Thank you petal, much needed!
I'm glad it mad you smile, he went a funny green colour - no idea why
I bet! And happy birthday hon, nearly missed that one! Hope you're celebrating your first smoke free birthday in style!
Aw thank you, just a quiet night in and my last big "Eat" before Crimbo and maybe a glass of wine pic4ever.com/images/2vsj1nm...
Obviously my threats were empty, He's off having a cigar now - good job the MIL bought me perfume for my birthday, I can "accidently" squirt some in his general direction - On the plus side, this Harvey's Merlot is delicious
Oh that's a real shame, am not surprised though
Nor me - I think Max had his number from the start, he's just come back stinking to high heaven, and announcing that he's bought to packs as they're cheaper that way It's his choice, I'm disappointed but it's his choice, he said he got the kick he needs so he can do what he likes

Ah well you can show him the way!!
If it's anything like as cold where you are as it is here, if he says he's enjoying it, he's either a masochist or drowning in denial!!
Stunningly good words from Kat as always
He is an idiot Jenn and he will be back on regular fags in no time-let him make his mistakes but please don't follow him
Thanks Max, I have no intention of giving up my quit, the thing that rankles most is he was convinced I would cave in first - but I now realise I just do not want to smoke anymore. The holier than thou me want's to brain him but the addict in me totally understands - weird position to be in

Can completely understand - I think he's stupid to do it but that makes me a total hypocrite.
It is a b.loody stupid addiction!!!

Guess what I found two tins of in the cupboard last night pic4ever.com/images/5150.gif
No surprises there.
Can understand going through a heller of a time and caving, Kyle, Woo and I have done it recently, but walking happily back to smoking just confuses me.
Apparently he never really wanted to quit anyway, he did it because I did and he wanted to see if he could ???? (his contradiction not mine) TBH, I'm not 100% surprised, he did say a couple of weeks ago he enjoyed smoking and only "gave up" because of me. It is his life, he can do what he likes, but I know it upsets him when I have to get up and go into the spare room because the stench coming off him makes me feel sick

That's the trouble, if he saw it as "giving up" then he was doomed from the start.

You've got it worst in 2 ways, as an ex-smoker you're more tuned in to the smell and cigars are the stinkiest thing to smoke as well.
Don't blame you leaving the room.
You are absolutely amazing and should feel so proud that you have stuck to your quit. I have seen a lot of couples where one caves and the other follows close behind.
I think it smells worst to ex smokers rather than non smokers. My ex never smoked and we were together most of our lives. The smell never bothered him and still doesn't when he is around smokers.
When I quit I think I would never have the strength to date or be in a relationship with a smoker. Not because of the smell but because I think I would be joining them in a flash.
Some people you just get the feeling they will stay quit forever. You give me the impression you are definitely one of those
Thank you Karri, weird thing is, I went to the takeaway with my brother on Saturday and he smoked a rollie going there and coming back (in his car) and it didn't bother me in the slightest, yet those cigar things bleugh - I literally gag at the stench that seems to hang around for hours, I can even smell it on him first thing the next morning.
Oh good god - I didn't realise he smoked cigars full time.
Even as a smoker I can't stand them, they smell vile.
I really feel for you
What she said!!
Years ago when they used to allow smoking in pubs, the smell of people smoking cigars made me feel ick, even though I was smoking fags.
