Day 1 for me....

Hi,

I just wanted to introduce myself, not sure if this is the right place! I was in the forum before in 2009 as I attempted to quit for two months, and it has taken me more than four years to try again....

....but here I am on Day 1 at 11am and all good so far, using the patches and have inhalator, minis and strips on stand by in case I need them. I also have e-cigs but would prefer not to use them!!

I feel scared, excited....I want to keep coming to the forum for inspiration and support. Let me know if there is any particular thread that I should read.

Thanks.

Hey

Welcome back and well done for quitting again, and don't worry, we have all had at least one failed attempt (me many more than one). Learn from the last one and I'm sure you'll be fine this time. Just take it one fag at a time.

Hello, Marta! I'm another one who quit for 6 months 4 years ago.:o One of the things that helps me is remembering how sick I felt when I started smoking again. Physically sick, head feeling like it would explode plus feeling sick with myself for having started again and for persisting with the fags until I got "used to them again".

Use every tactic/weapon/tool you can in your quit. Get your mind set right. Know that there will be difficult times, but you will get through them...come here and have a rant/scream/cry if need be. But remember too how good you felt for those 2 months when you were smokefree. This is your time to become a non-smoker.........:)

Hanging on....

Thanks for your encouraging messages.

3.30pm and still going strong with just the patches. It has been a bit more difficult and I am already very worried about this evening as my OH is out, boys in bed, glass of wine.....but will have the inhalator minis and e-cigs at the ready!

During work it is more about the routine but home will be more difficult, will update you in the morning!!!

Marta, you are doing well. The first few days are hard, but you can do it!

Do you have the internet at home? If so, after the boys are in bed, settle down comfortably and stay logged in here, reading everyone's experiences and taking strength from them. Post about how you are feeling, be it good or bad. Have a rant or scream or cry if need be.........many of us have.:D I spent every spare minute of my first few days on here, reading, posting and stuffing my face with chocolate.:D

If you haven't got the internet at home, well, you know that you are not alone in your quit, and that is really helpful. I don't know about anyone else, but even when I'm at work I'm thinking about this forum and the lovely people on it....willing them to do well and knowing that they will be here for me when I get back online, because everyone cares! It's just brilliant!:):)
