Overjoyed, but.......

FAT.. I am fat, never been fat in my life! At first I was totally devastated, but now I realise that for the the first time in 40 years, I am fat because I do NOT smoke!

Have now decided, 9 months on, to do something to change that....

Am not, however, going to beat myself up about it, as what I have done is massive! Am going to join a gym though and have just started using myfitnesspal.whatever!

Wish me luck my friends xxx

I been using my fitness pal for about 8 weeks it is great for just scanning stuff and keeping track and it links into fitness apps like run keeper and fitbit. So far lost about 18lbs of the 28 I put on the past year so something is working.

Can really recommend the app and it lets you link up with pals on the app and motivate each other.

The important thing for me is being healthy and even if I had put on 3 stone the past year the act of stopping smoking is the number one best thing I or anyone can do for health.

First of all Congratulations on 9 months - I know we are around the same time :)

I have never found it so hard to lose weight in my life  I put a stone on but I've been going to the gym so I've lost about 6lb, I'm on a mission to lose another 8lb before xmas or I'll end up looking like a xmas pudding in the new year :p

It's still better to have a bit of extra weight than to smoke though, plus as women get older, being too skinny ages us more so I'm looking on the bright side :D

Morning all - I too am FAT!!!! I have actually put on a stone and half since quitting (6 months - YAY!!!!) And yesterday have embarked on a diet - actually using the 5:2 fasting diet plan as I feel like I need immediate results!!!! When I sulk about it my Husband says ;you're not fat, you're a non smoker' bless him - so I'm going to try and apply the quit smoking sucess to the quit fat issue!!!!

weight loss

I find this weird in my quit. I have lost 23 lbs since I last smoked. I drank a lot of water and didn't change much; just didn't smoke. People don't understand how I never gained weight...

I have talked about this in my other posts. Just eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies when you feel the urge to eat, or smoke if thats why you are eating, and you will definitely lose weight even if you gained it. Or if you are just starting your quit, this will help manage and control weight gain. Drink a lot of water as well....This will keep you hydrated and fuller... DO NOT snack whatever you do... You will be good. I promise. I actually gained weight during my last quit too, but I learned to manage it this time. Its all about mind control. You will get through this. Good luck and don't be too hard on yourself. We are all here if you need us or have to vent.
