I'm so scared of failing i just want to kick this nasty habit.

Hiya Lulu and welcome :)

You're making the right decision to stop, especially now bcause it gets harder the older you get!! Am only 29 but found earlier quits a lot easier than my last one.

You'll find the first week is probably the worst - although I got through it feeling hyper for some reason - then things get better!!

Don't be scared of failing, honestly we all felt like that :)

If you use your e-cig sparingly it will help you but do watch out 'cos I got hooked on mine - have it when you *need* it not just fancy it and you should be fine!!

Sucking mints, drinking water, exercise, playing games and keeping your hands busy all really help - and post on here too 'cos it is a lifesaver!!

Good luck, you'll be fine!! xx

hey Gemma thanks for the reply.

I've just been using my e-cig when my mom and sister sit outside smoking since i usually go with them, i've been sitting with them using my electronic ciggie and the smoke doesn't seem to be bothering me too much yet but is this to good to be true??

The other thing i'm terrified off is the food cravings i have suffered from eating disorders and terrified of the thought of putting weight on but my partner has offered to go jogging with me this weekend which will put my mind at ease.

This forum is a god send! it's nice to know someone is always there to talk to :)

That should be OK as long as you keep a watch on it :)

Definitely don't stress too much about the e-cig in the early days 'cos the main thing is that you don't have a real ciggie!!

When you feel a bit stronger cut down the strength and that should help!!

I'm sure you'll be fine and yes this place is great - I'd definitely be back on the fags by now if it wasn't for this forum!!

Hey Lulu and welcome to the forum :) Well done for making the decision to quit now! So many people on here have told me it's much better to do it while we're younger and it only becomes harder to do so the longer you leave it!

Personally I would advise that you ditch the e-cig, get yourself some patches, and stop going outside with your mum and sister when they smoke. I promise that I mean that in the least pushy way! But from my own experience, and that of others on here, e-cigarettes are not a form of nicotine replacement therapy. They only drag out the addiction.

However, if your plan is to swap from smoking real fags to smoking the e-cig then please ignore my ramblings. This is still a healthier alternative!

I would just hate for you to get sucked down by a bit of plastic.

As Max has said, use this forum. It's full of posts and each one of us has had our own quit to contend with. Also, do what makes you happy. Try out a few things to help push the cravings away. If these don't work, change your tactics a little.

For most of us there seems to be ups and downs within the first few weeks (though there are those exceptions who just breeze through it!), but I promise you that it gets easier and you will enjoy being a non-smoker! :D

Good luck and please keep us posted. x

Hey Lulu and welcome to the forum, you've definitely made the best decision to stop now while you are still young giving yourself your life back! It sounds like you're into exercise, I find that is a great way to take your mind off the craves and its easier without the heavy chest. Stop smoking and get fit, what more could you want?!

If it helps I use QuitNow and it's brilliant :)

It tells you how many fags you haven't smoked, how much you've saved, how long it's been, how much life you save andthere's loads of health things on there too :)

It's definitely better than the NHS one!!

Mine's the free one and it's fab :D

Well actually it's a bit scary, don't know how much you smoked but I was average and have saved nearly £1300 already  and I'm going to live about a fortnight longer too!!
