Hello,

Are u using some sort of NRT?

This can cause issues sleeping, on my third night I had two hours sleep, with palpitations, and vivid dreams! It's was horrible, then all the next day I just felt rotten.

But we'll done, your doing so well already, just remember that.

Everyone on here will give you loads of tips on just about anything you need.

If your using NRT then people will be able to help, I'm using patches, I have to take them off about an hour before bed, no caffeine at all in that hour, an I have to read in bed. My heart always has palps when I get into bed for some reason- but I'm getting better at managing it now!

Good luck and well done for getting this far xx

You will get all the support you need on here.

It won't be uncommon for you to find it difficult relaxing because your body is trying to get used to not having nicotine.

Maybe try the spray- only for when you get craves. If u have gotten this far without anything, then that could be good just to manage the tough craves that come through.

Just try relaxing before bed, a bath or something? Listen to music, a d just keep telling yourself how well your doing.

Just message me if you want to just rant, but everyone will help.

And can I just say its amazing you doing this without anything at all- your really strong. Just remember that!

Keep smiling!! X

Hi Danielle,

You've gotten this far without NRT so it doesn't seem worth using any now. They say nicotine leaves the system in 3 days. Wish I could have done it CT. You should find it a lot easier soon. I didn't have any problem sleeping, I was exactly the opposite. I have some hypnotherapy apps and I find they put me to sleep quickly.

PS. Laura, there is a good one for palpitations which also puts me to sleep. Max Kirsten's app for anxiety.

Aww hun, sorry to hear you're having such a bad day of it :(

I agree with the others, do your best to stay away from NRT. Only resort to it in absolute worse case scenario - better NRT than a smoke, better nothing than NRT...

Just think when it gets bad. Nicotine is an addiction. Additionally you also have the psychological addiction to the habit.

You smoked for how many years?

You are now trying to stop and your body is expediting it by rushing it through, you don't have to spend those X amount of years quitting, it's just a few days.

My example? I smoked for 10 years. Nicotine is escaping my system within 3 days. It hurts, but it works!

Think of them as "meant to be hell in a handbasket" delve into it, cry, scream, KNOW it's going to be horrid.

That way, when it's not horrid you feel WONDERFUL.

And when you get through the days, and they start to flash by, you'll find yourself not only pleased, but those horrid terrible days will just be a haze.

Take care, get angry, punch through it.

Hi Danielle :)

I'm sorry you're feeling rubbish, but as you're going cold turkey the really horrible bit should be over soon - wish i'd had the guts to do it that way TBH.

Do anything (except smoke) that makes you feel better, and some days there's nothing for it but to scrap the day and go to sleep but it's worth the bad times to feel great when you're a non-smoker!!

Would definitely agree about not using NRT *unless you think you're about to light up* 'cos you're not going to need it really.

Don't give up, you can do it! What helps me a lot is doing something physical - go for a walk, run, walk the stairs at work, etc. Before I used to get out of breath and now I feel like a champion! Also, think about how good does it feel to live without constantly being worried about cancer, think about the money you are saving, etc.

Hang in there! Hugs :)

Woohoo, Day 4!!

Really well done hun, I hope you're proud of yourself! Cold Turkey is always the best method, so you're doing great.

Hang in there and use some of the ideas from the forum to keep your mind busy. Remember: It will get easier :) xxx

That's brilliant!!

It's definitely tougher doing it cold turkey, but that way you get the pain over with really quickly - a bit like pulling off a plaster - and you're free of Nic o'Tine far faster!!

You're doing a brilliant thing for yourself, so please stick with it and come on here when you feel rubbish for some support and help!!

Hi Danielle, also make sure that you are drinking a lot of water, the dehyration will make you feel you want to smoke when actually all you need is to drink somewater, use a straw if you are feeling the loss of mouth action.

You are doing so very well going CT, be very proud of yourself. You have conquered the better part of a week!:D:D
