Hi all, Having quit in the early afternoon on New Years Day I am now officially on Day 4 of this difficult journey to non smokersville.
My negatives (figured i'd get them in first to end on the positives).
Insomnia, it can literally take hours to get to sleep and then my sleep is broken but it's not causing my to be too tired during the day - the extra oxygen and energy I guess.
Can't stop thinking about smoking, I think this is caused by the fact that I was a very addicted, heavy smoker but I really can't get it out of my head for more than 30 seconds.
I am a little snappy today.
I'm spending more than I am saving on NRT but I am not smoking.
THE POSITIVES
My skin looks brighter and feels better.
My hair also looks and feels better.
My breath, hands and clothes do not smell like a filthy ashtray.
I have more energy, not bundles but noticibly more.
My general outlook on life is more positive even through the low times oddly.
I have so much more time, I do not tear around like a blue backsided fly to get things done so I can smoke. I can take life at a slower pace and still get things done in a timely fashion.
I Do not wish to sound disgusting so bare with me. I am NOT suffering from trapped wind - a good sign my system is functioning sooo much more efficiently as I have not changed my diet at all. Sorry, tried to keep it as polite as possible but it is a good sign sort of.
Best of all is the improvement in my sense of taste. As a smoker I gulped water because I needed to, now I sip water and really enjoy it. Even domestic water is fantastic now especially this time of year, the mains water is a perfect temperature and tastes clensing.
I don't yet feel like a Non Smoker but i'm gonna be. N.O.P.E
Good luck all

Excellent post. Interesting note on the price of NRT. What are you using? As is always the case in the UK at this time of year, some of them are offered at half price or better over the counter. I bought 3 packs of patches for £18 when normally they would be £36!!!
your doing so well i know the price of the nrt is not cheap but its still cheaper then a pack of ciggys so another day is nearly passed of being smoke free not long till you reach the week mark

onwards and upwards
Couldn't agree more, onwards, upward and Not One Puff
Well done chilli, many of your words echo the way I am feeling too.Esp the one where you said you think about fags every 30 seconds,I started to think I know what a herion addict or similar feels like, its total hell.Always kick them thoughts out of your head as quickly as they come and it will get easier each day.Am on day 5 and that craving/thoughts are less often than yesterday, not by loads but I'd say every half hour, just a little less intense.Hopefully day by day it will improve.Am aware the road ahead is still going to tough but am feeling positive.Today I am really noticing nice smells! my perfume nicer and washing powder smells very strong in a good way.Well done everyone x x

Hey, your post echoes my thoughts completely...u write it a lot more eloquently than I could...the insomnia is the worst for me, followed by brain fog still....can't wait for these symptoms to pass....on the plus side, very proud of myself and my willpower....have divided my day into parts which I work through...this is helping!!
Keep up the good work and the motivating posts!!
Claire
