Please tell me it gets easier! I'm in day 10, and all day all I've thought about was smoking. I didn't cave, but I guess I just need to vent/ whine.

I know this may sound daft, but go and stand next to some smokers outside of a shop or pub or something, that's if your up to it. It's there and then that you realise why you are stopping! The smell of it all and the lost look in their eyes will boost you along. I often stand just beside smokers and think wow, I used to be one of these unfortunates who need the weed and are prepared to brave the cold wind and snow to kill themselves slowly. Plus there are the stares from the ex smokers and the never-had-ones. The stares which say "look at them bloody idiots ". That's what helps me stay on the straight and narrow.
Hey Catty, yes it gets easier, my first two weeks were rough. Hopefully I won't have to go through them again. I just woke up one day and it had all gone, the craves, the anxiety. Ten days is a great base for your quit, you don't want to restart!
Give yourself time, and post on this forum, it's the best aid you'll have

Hi Catty
It definitely *does* get easier - it's the nicotine demon and he doesn't want you to get away!! If you can try to distract yourself then thet should shut him up and the more craves you fight off the easier it gets!!
Vent away, goodness knows I have plenty!!
struggling - day 10
Hello, I am also on day 10 and been having a real struggle today. I crave that initial rush you get when you smoke a cigarette that for me signals relax. I know it's an illusion really but need something that will give me the relax signal. My alternative at the moment is food but am horrified to see more weight creeping on. Have chewed gum till my jaws are aching, have sucked and chewed straws - have nibbled on seeds - just can't get the feeling! Any ideas?
Thanks everyone.
I know that I am not going to smoke again because quitting was HARD. I just want to stop thinking about smoking and wanting to smoke.
I guess the bright side is I've lost 3 lbs. every time I really start to crave smokes I hop on my eliptical. I'm up to an hour a day now.
Good luck! I have had a BAD day today and I caved. 1st I forgot to take my Anti D's yesterday so I was fired up all day but didn't notice why till teatime. This afternoon our old Boxer bitch had a large lump on her ear, thinking the worse we were prepared for goodbyes but fortunately it was a hematoma and got lanced. Then I find out my Mum isn't coming to visit because of the snow. 1 cig was had, followed by endless CAKE plus left over Bailey's icecream:rolleyes:
