I'm really proud of myself to get this far I think the champix are really working as I rarely went 3 hrs let alone 3 days its just the constant thinking about cigarettes. I wake up thinking about them,do the ironing think about them,go to bed think about them.I dont feel I want one I just cant stop thinking about them.

Hi mb

Welcome to the party :)

Although I have no experience of champix I felt exactly the same as you when I first quit.

I thought of smoking every single second of the day....I mean every single second! Although I had no desire to smoke .... I could not get the "act" of smoking out of my head.

The only time I ever got any rest from it was when I finally got to sleep. I lay there "self hypnotising" myself...well at least trying to....to stop thinking of IT or THEM! I would eventually drop off and feel good that I was getting somewhere...then the alarm went off and boom...there it was again.

But....as time goes by (which it did frighteningly quickly at the start) it started to get quieter in my head...the volume slowly went down.

If I'm honest I still think of it now and I'm sure I will for some time to come....but it gets so much easier to cope with...so much easier to ignore.

It's still annoying.....but I know it's going the right way....and that's just ... well ... away! :)

The best present we can give ourselves after quitting, in my book, is patience. Just give it time, give yourself time and please believe me it will get easier and it will get quieter.

We all take different times to get there but the one thing we all do if we give ourselves a chance is get there. :)

Stay strong and keep going.

Take care

Greg

in my experience we never stop thinking about them. we just change the way we think about them. iv gone from beleiving i couldnt live without them to being overjoyed that i dont do it anymore and wouldnt ever want to change that by even contemplating them as ever being a good thing cos in all honesty they were always vile, i just got brainwashed into beleiving they had something going for them. iv seen the light , now i live in it and it has set me free. couldnt possibly go back , my face no longer fits im an over the moon outcast. stay proud cos its something worth its weight in gold and life gets so much better. its way beyond your wildest dreams. the freedom is awesome.

the 1st 3/4 days were goddamn awful I will not lie to you, every second of every day thinking about them, I work on a weekend so I would lie in untill early afternoon so I didnt have to get up and think about them...I am only 10 days in but I GUARANTEE you i gets easier, I am craving 4/5 times a day now still quite intense but manageable, I am getting up as normal now, walking to the shop for a newspaper gets me over crave no.1....keeping busy swats away the craving....day 11 tomoz...I am not bragging just so happy that I have done it and things are calming down...keep refreshing this page..get support from us and you will do it too...:D

Hi Mummyboo, I'm at the same stage as you day 3 of not smoking and day 15 of champix, I too think of them all the time but I am sure this will get easier. It is probably habit as before we would just smoke one now when the thought pops in our head they are not there so it's making us more aware. Good luck xx
