Am on day 6 of Champix, still smoking at the moment but have cut down from about 12 a day to about 6 a day. Very nervous about stopping completely and just wanted to know if the tablets work more the longer you take them. I have set day 10 as my final quit day, but was hoping to just go off them completely!
Any help will be gratefully received!

I think I was down from 30 to 4 by day 8 so I stopped, in hindsight I wish I had carried on for a couple more days as I think I stopped too soon but hey-ho I'm nearly at 4 months smoke free.
This is not a race so take your time, but even though Champix is a fantastic stop smoking aid you will need iron cast will power and us lot
yeah you are gonna still need some will power, but the champix is effectively building up in your body so it will get stronger as you go on. one of the biggest secrets in quitting is to have faith in and trust the process.
I am on day 9 and still nervous! Just give it all you have and you will succeed. I took Champix for the whole 14days before i quit and have not had a cigarette since my quit date. I did find I was cutting down without even noticing it.
Everyone is different so just take your time and do what is right for you. If you have any questions regarding Champix just ask there are loads of people in here that have stopped or are in the process of stopping that will be able to offer lots of advice.
Thanks for all your kind words. They helped so much i finished the last cig in my pack on the way home, and haven't bought another pack. Kinda regretting it now though, as i don't think i have taken enough Champix tablets to go cold turkey!! Have read through this forum today, scared about some of the side effects listed on Champix but so far have only had a mild headache and a bit of trouble getting to sleep. Hopefully they won't get worse when i go on to week 2!!! It certainly helps taking the tablets on a full stomach though, as the first couple of days i felt slightly queasy.
Take care

Day 6 Champix - Quit day WILL be Monday 8th Feb.

Today is much better, i think i was trying to stop completely too soon. I have had a couple of cigarettes today, as i am only on day 7 of the champix. The good thing was after a couple of puffs i thought they were disgusting and had to put them out!

Dont be nervous about saving your own life! I never used Champix but i wished i did as it sounds like the right way ahead!
YOU CAN DO IT! Roll on day 10! Remember its a marathon not a sprint!
Welcome Beccy and well done on the decision to quit.
I used Champix and set day 8 as my quit date but then when it came I was not ready to stop....set day 12 as my new stop date and by day 10 just did not want a cig so did not have one....
Champix will do the work for you and you will know what is right for you...read loads about the tabs and keep an eye on yourself. Talk it over with your nurse or GP and dont ignore any sideeffects...
Plus you got us now....you poor thing... There is always someone about to empathise, sympathise, kick you back into action or just have a laugh with.
