Whats the matter with me?

Hi everyone, havnt posted for a while as have been very busy and flying with my quit.....

Its 3mth on the 16th Dec so couldnt be happier, its gone so quick.

BUT......why am I starting to think about fags again and fantasising about smoking,I havnt had a puff for 3mths yet it seems to be coming back full force. Why? Has this happened to anyone else?I keep telling myself not to be silly and am just looking for reassurance from others I think.

Help please.

  • Oh Carol

    what a bummer!

Many say the 3 day, 3 week, 3 month thingy but I dont really go for it.

I get it at all different times...just trying to be different.

I think it's just a wicked horrible evil drug that got us chemically dependant and then we coupled it with years and years of habit.

I'm 2 month on the 16th so exactly month behind you.

I'm trying really really hard to squeeze some positivity down the line as I type, I have some spare at the moment and you are welcome to it, if we all send a bit to you then you'll have it coming out yer ears before you know it. :)

Hopefully the long term quitters will give their wisdom soon all I want to say is stay strong and I hope it passes for you soon

    Take care

  • hang in there kiddo

    Hey carol

I think its the verse one of the habits swan song, also christmas makes people more reflective, and in lots of your good memories you'd have a fag in hand, dont be fooled,

the mood and company and situation was good and lovely and warm and yummy,

whereas that fag was cloying and thick and sickly and choking everyone else in that memory.

Sorry to be brutal but chin up your doing amazingly well, and i'd hate to see a slip after all that work xxxx hugs and remember we're here xx

  • Carol, they come and go every so often. I'm 6 months quit today but I very nearly bought some on Saturday. If Tesco had the brand I wanted I would have done. Oh well, it passed as it always does.

  • Hang in there Carol, come on here and read and post more often til it passes chuck, that's what we're all here for.

You're strong enough to beat this, you know you are! I'm sending positivity down the line to you too x

  • Hi Carol,

Well as I am only on day 5 I feel I don't qualify to give you any advice. However, what I can say is that the reason I am on day 5 is because of people like you. I have dissected this forum and read experiences, both the struggles and at times the easy days and how people seem to manage and get through it. Take you for instance, you are an inspiration to individuals like myself in my 1st week. You should feel very proud of your achievements as everyone on here is. So you are having thoughts at the moment, but now you are better equipped to deal with those. The fact that you posted on here is testament to that. Hope I have helped if only in a tiny measure, and I also send you strength and positivity.

    Don :)

  • Thanks Molly, I'm so glad they are still on show in Scotland. If I'd had to ask I would probably have just taken something else. I came home and went to the very first page of the 6 month threads and read any that looked like they were having difficulty. Found quite a few who are still around so I stuck it out:D

Hi Una, I've looked up to you ever since I first found this place, to quit when you've smoked so long takes so much guts and determination!

Yet again you make me admire you, to have gotten through a temptation like that. I know I'll be ok now because if I hit a struggle I can just talk to you and you'll sort me out!

  • Hi Carol, It is the nico monster having a last ditched attempt to get you give in. So glad you didn't as I know they will get weaker and weaker if you ignore them. I think people still have thoughts of smoking when they have been quit long term but they are not really craves just memories. Keep going like we all will and remember why we are doing this, we are doing this because we did not want to smoke:)

  • wow!!I didnt expect so many replies so quick.

Thank you all, feel better already:)I spose Iv been a bit down and it gets into your head again. But just saying Iv helped people in the past made me feel good.Ahh................

Im going to make the effort to come on here more,it just goes to show not to take it for granted, and knowing others have felt the same makes it ok.
