What my quit means to me

Well its now been 33 days and I'm so proud of that! Not long for many of you I know, but for me it's a miracle.

I thought (mainly for my own benefit) that I'd scribble down what it means to me:

I can breathe again

I don't cough

I don't smell (well not of fags anyway!!)

I am better off

I don't panic when I'm getting low on fags

I don't have to dash out late at night to get fags for the morning

My house/office/car smells nice

My Mother is proud of me

I can run again

My car is not full of ash/old fag packets

I can walk uphill without panting and puffing

My teeth are clean

I have met some amazing people... right here

But above all... I am happy.

Sorry of this sounds wet, or is me me me but I needed to remind myself.

1 day, 3 days, 33 days, 3 years ..... each and every day is good to be quit.

33 Days is fresh in my mind and knowing how the first couple months were is part of what helps me stay strong ... I'm not going through that again, ever:)

Reminders of why we stopped are great and serve as a good place to come back to and re-read when and if resolve weakens.

Great list, keep on with a great quit

i loved your post. It is simple, heartfelt and really resonates for me. I too am thirty something (?) days smoke free. I cant quite believe that every day I am not smoking. After years and years of it. I know it would be so easy just to be a smoker again, which is why posting here is so important. To hold that truth with others that know it too!.

Another third and you'll be a 'long-player' :p

It's a good length of quit and getting longer each day.

Everyone is allowed 'me, me, me' occasionally...why shouldn't you be proud of yourself? I can think of no earthly reason not to be proud of yourself in what you are doing

Congrats, Dale :)

I love your list Dale. It is the sort of list you should print out and keep somewhere so you can always refer to it. I think the most prominent part of it for me is being happy. That is exactly how I feel. I am happier now than I have been in years.

Be proud of yourself hunni, I know I am proud of you :D

Agree with Levs here, being happy is all that matters really. You should be so proud of yourself!

Just over a month is amazing and no one quits smoking and wakes up the next day having a 1 yr quit, do they? I know it sounds silly but I remember having trouble reminding myself that the days would eventually add up.

Love the list, keep coming back to it if you have a bad day or just want to remind yourself of what you've gained :)

fantastic post dale... it's lovely to see the days rack up, and watch the days of being a smoker gradually receding into the more and more distant past.

The longer you go, the more you realise how horrendous it would be to go back. And that's a list of reasons good enough to keep you strong in your quit.

Onwards and upwards!
