Last night I noticed the inside of my mouth was sore and thought it was another wee mouth ulcer on the way. Brushing my teeth this morning I didn't notice any real discomfort from my teeth...more the pain in the side of my cheek.
The pain has got worse since I have come into work and now the side of may face is rapidly swelling...really swollen where my jaw ends, kinda beside my ear and my face is kinda tingly.
I have to phone the docs back at 1.30 and they are going to book me in for appointment this afternoon.
Does this sound like an ulcer or abscess of something? Has anyone else had anything like this since quitting?
Bloody hell its all good fun isn't it

Currently I have the biggest pluke developing on my nose. Either it is a calling from Santa or it is gonna develop into the biggest spot of my life....
Could yours just be a really big pluke you think ?
There is nothing on my skin that would say so...unless it rears its head on the inside of my mouth....my god that aint gonna be easy to squeeze!!
I am beginning to understand where the phrase "face ache" came from...my bloody ear is starting to feel numb and weird....maybe I have been blessed from a power that be's for stopping smoking and my face is morphing into something fantastic and i will wake up in the morning looking like an model....but..somehow I doubt it...hummfff
Sounds like it might be an abscess or something like that. You have made the right decision to have your gp check it out though just in case Let us know how you get on.
Paul... It's definitely Santa's calling, He always chooses the best little helpers
Oh god, if it's a pluke I hope for your sake the head is not in your mouth.. They're not too tasty.
You do have lymph nodes around your ears there are ones behind your ears too that you can check. I have had swelling like you describe when I got an infection inside a tooth, basically the closest lymph node just swells up as the tooth infection is draining.
Other than that I have not a clue, but you are right going to the docs in case it isasevere allergic reaction or something....although I a sure it will turn out ok in the end and you never know it might be a princess Fiona moment (from Shrek)
Thanks guys...its getting very sore now...the best way to describe is if you bite into something that is overpowering in flavour and all your tastebuds seem to go into shock and you get that unpleasant shock type feeling when it feels like your cheeks are shrivelling up...its like that but more painfull.
I put my finger up the inside of my cheek and the pain is coming from the actual flesh of my cheek..just beneath my cheek bone. There is no pain in my gums or teeth, just the actual wall of my cheek. It hurts even to stroke my cheek on the outside.
I have images of me sitting at work and my face swelling and getting bigger and bigger and bigger and then all of a sudden "BANG!!!!".....my face has burst and there is brain matter (maybe not a lot) all over my computer screen and desk.............so if you read in the news about the girl whos face exploded then yes that would be me  Just my luck too...for me face to explode on a bloody Friday...not the Monday, Oh No!!! that would be tooooo convenient!!
Is it just a feeling loopy or can people in your office actually see the swollen ness ?
If people can see your face swollen get yourself off the computer and to docs and if not docs then to a&e. sudden swollen bits around your face ain't really for mucking about with.
Pop is right - if its a visable swelling doctors NOW! if its not sounds like you need the dentist, thats the toothache ive had on and off for about 6 weeks, solphadine will sort it in the short term, im waiting on my dentists appt to see if im having it ripped out or crowned
and Pops it must be something in the water here cos ive had spots with pulses but that is prob the diff meds ive been on in the last 2 weeks but OMG they had different heart beats
Just phoned the GP and I have to wait until the Doctor comes in after 2pm and he will phone me to arrange an appointment....more than likely its just an abscess in my cheek and I will need an antibiotic...I have never had one before though so I'm not really qualified to say.
I will keep you all posted
My face hasn't exploded yet though so its all good...sore but good "pulls a wincy smiley face"
Saturday was not good...everything I ate left me looking like a hamster planning a great escape and it got more and more painfull to eat, my other half wanted me to go to A&E when we were at macdonalds...I swelled up like a freakin puffer fish lol, about 2 hours after though it drained back down.
Sunday was much better, hardly any swelling, just discomfort, this morning I was a bit puffed up after I brushed my teeth. I have just ate a huge bag of monster munch and two chomp bars and no swelling..thumbs up! Just sore
The doctor gave me antibiotics and told me to contact him to arrange more tests if it keeps swelling after eating as it might be a blocked saliva gland. I'll see how I go over the next few days.
Thank you for asking and I hope you are doing well yourself xx
Yup...food glorious food!!!!! :D I made cookies and cherry scones yesterday...nom nom nom
I might need to buy a larger binkin for my hols next year!!! eek! I hate bikini shopping...I would rather stick cactus in my eyes!!!..thats it!!! "light bulb begins to flash above my head"...I am going to attach my bikini to my fridge...that should deter me from this constant snacking
