I have read several posts this morning where people seem a bit down. I wanted to put down a list of good things about not smoking - and believe me there are plenty! Ok cravings are not yet a thing of the past, but let's face it, we can see them getting further and further apart.
I'm now having to stop myself preaching to my loved ones about smoking as I cannot think why I did not quit before. I have to keep reminding myself how much I hated preachers!!!
Feel free to add to this list! These are my personal reasons / findings...
• I love the fact I have more energy
• I love my new sense of smell
• I love not smelling of fags – I can smell my perfume!
• I love my new white teeth (get them cleaned – they stay white!)
• I love running – who’d have thought that I’d ever enjoy that!?
• I didn’t realize that I was not breathing well – now I breathe easy!
• I love the fact that I don’t have to worry about when and where I can have my next smoke – I’m free!
• I can go out for meal without fidgeting about when I can have my ‘after dinner smoke’.
• I hated having strands of backy in everything eg handbag, pockets etc
• I hated nicotine stains on hands
• I hated worrying about running out of Backy and having to plan buying it into my day
• I used to worry when I left the house that the last fag was not put out properly
• I love having empty pockets
• I hated worrying that when I speak my breath smells, so covering my mouth
• I love the fact that I am a NON SMOKER!
I LOVE THE NEW HEALTHIER, WEALTHIER, GUILT FREE ME!
Go and treat yourselves with that money you've saved - I bought myself some new underwear last week and it felt great!

Jenny, ditto to all those things. I also feel much more confident in myself, didn 't realise how much smoking affected my self confidence, I was embarrassed by the fact that I smoked, was very conscious of the smell, clothes and breath.
It's great to hold your head up high now isn't it. Be proud and smell that lovely fresh air.
Love the fact that I don't have to tell my daughter to wait (whilst I have another coffee and fag) before we go out and play swing ball or baking or anything that could take over a couple of hours.
In fact I can't believe that I put my nicotine addiction before her! How sad:mad:
Lovely post Jenny, it's cheered me up on a grey Friday afternoon. Can I just add that I love the fact my nice clean bedlinen doesn't reek of fags after one night. And I never even smoked in the house, it was just the horrible smell off my hair & skin. Ugh.
Unfortunately the clean smells in the house I can't relate to as my other half is still chuffing away! That must be great through. I keep finding myself cleaning obsessively since I quit (not a bad thing!) and spraying the front room with febreeze regularly I even washed the curtains last week because they were smokey!
Must not preach
Must not preach
Must not preach
Must not preach
Must not preach ..... not yet anyway!
I also love how efficient I have become in everything I do. I dont stop every hour or so for a smoke.
I love being able to have a handbag that ISN'T lined with fluffy bits of tobacco.
And the hoover no longer gets jammed up with those plastic bits that hold filter tips together!
In fact I have to hoover less now - the cats don't jump onto the sofa and send ashtrays flying any more!
Heeeyyy!!!
You just reminded me of the state of my keyboard at work..... i swapped it with another spare one as i couldn't get the baccy out from under the keys when i used to roll and pop it on the top of my keys to wait for my friend to finish what she was doing..... she currently is having a fag outside... Tsk!
My manager sat at the offending keyboard in question, grimaced and noted that there was oodles of tobacco or something hideous all over it...
*whistles* well it couldn't have been me.... i dont sit there do I?
I love being able to jump on the trampoline with my kids and still be able to breathe! I love exercising and still being able to breathe! I love breathing!
One more (sure I wrote this already) ... being able to go through to the departure lounge at the airport without jittering and twitching about the point of no return! AMAZING I actuall felt really sorry for my other half as I could see him thinking 'right thats the last nicotine for many hours'
Okay so I'm not but to be honest I've got a really stressful job and complicated home life and ciggies didn't make it any better. But doing without doesn't make it any worse so I feel good that my hair doesn't smell, people are apologising for smoking in front of me (love this bit!) and I've broken a 23 year habit. It's early days and I've decided to go cold turkey after 4 weeks of patches and so far it's working. But if my nerve goes the patches are with me along with my chewing gum as I ain't going back again!
