Same thing happened to me, my favourite wine was disgusting. Doc said it was caused by bacteria which is usually killed by smoking. I waited weeks before I did anything about it. Wished I'd gone sooner because it was cleared up in a couple of days.
I tried some real ale last night...which I don't normally go for but thought I'd add that to my lifestyle change list just to try it....and it tasted really good...give it a whirl!!!!...probably be back on the lager soon I imagine.
I don't know if it's anything to do with quitting smoking but it seems to have coincided with it: I can hardly tolerate alcohol any more. I was never a big drinker, but these days if I have more than a glass of wine, I really feel crappy the next day - like, slightly poisoned. I haven't had more than one or two glasses a week for months and months, sometimes none at all.
I figure there are worse things I could go off - it's not exactly good for you - but it is a bit of a pain.
I reckon if it's just a taste thing you're experiencing it will iron itself out. Or you can swap to a new favourite drink. Dry sherry, anyone?
