Yaaay. Well done, Magic.
Well done Magic. You are well on your way to a smoke free future. If you are really worried about the weekend, why not just promise that you will get through it? You can always smoke on Monday if you want to (which you won't)
Thanks guys, regarding the weekend, i have now read about 85% of Allen Carrs book and just read the bit about handling social occasions. He says not to avoid them instead face them head on and to actively focus on enjoying a drink etc without cigs. To think how lucky I am that i dont have to smoke etc. Thats what I am going to do tonight when i have a glass of Rioja (only the 1 or 2 though).
I went to the hygenist this morning and had a good scale and polish. I told her before that my gums were hurting and i had an ulcer in my mouth, she said it was perfectly normal and the reason for the ulcer is that smoking kills bacteria in the mouth and now i have stopped the bacteria is having a party whilst my body rebuilds its own natural defenses. It continues to amaze me how much damage smoking does to our bodies - even killing our natural defenses! - anyway, my teeth are squeaky clean now and it feels good to get rid of all the smoking stains.
i can honestly say that im not having any cravings anymore, just every now and then i am caught out by my 25 year routine!
Loving this part of my life and loving this forum.
KOKO
Hang in there
Hi magic..
well done for getting this far, just because you had a slip up at this stage last week I bet you don't this week..
I'm going out this weekend (I will of completed two weeks tonight) in which time I havn't had a drink which is unheard of for me. I'm wondering if...
Option 1 i'm strong enough to have a drink and not smoke (kinda denying myself)
Option 2 meet it head on and drink and enjoy myself like you said.
Option 3 Try and leave it another couple of weeks further down the line untill i'm a little stronger
Tell us all how you got on and how you got through the weekend as I'm sure you will...
Good luck, keep the faith
Wow Magic - your last post was fantastic
I don't think I like the thought of the unfriendly bacteria though ... will i get mouth ulcers ?
Its great to read your positive posts, and very inspiring.
Porcupine, you might and you might not. Im sure its not one rule for all with stuff like this.
Im so glad you have got to day 2 ok. keep going!!
robbo - im going for option 2 - face this sucka head on and savour every sip knowing that i dont need to smoke.....
never stop reminding myself of the trick that has been played on me for years and years.
also - i cant stop smelling myself - that cant be normal......
Excellent news Magic - so glad you are still going strong. I feel better and better each day. I feel as though i am gradually re-training my brain not to expect a ciggie when i used to have one as part of my routine!
Tomorrow i am going to a big party where there will be many smokers but i intend to go and have a drink and prove that i can enjoy myself without needing to smoke.
Have a great weekend everyone - i'm looking forward to Sunday night when i can say its been a tobacco free week!
Well done Magic and Jerrylee.
Magic! Jerrylee, Porcupine, Red Robbo, you are doing brilliantly! Hope you all have a fantastic smoke free weekend!
Never new smoking had an anti-bacterial effect. Makes sense as quite a few have mentioned bad breath.
Well done and enjoy the weekend - it's just another day followed by another one.
