Hello Month 3....what a miracle!

AngryBear profile image
19 Replies

OK so I'm five hours early, I'll wait outside till then if you like!

Two months done at 10.30pm today, the wife and kids can't believe it. The kids certainly can't believe I want to start running soon (not too far at first!) Why? Because for the first time since I was 18 years old I feel like I can :D

Thanks to all who post on this forum, it's an old saying but without you all this would NOT be happening! ;)

A miracle indeed!

You have done absolutely brilliantly! I am so chuffed for you. I can remeber your early posts and I could almost feel your apprehension. What a long way you have come and what an example to the newbies you are. Take a pat on the back from me you deserve it bloody well done!:D

No Miracle old boy

Someone recently wrote on here that we all own our own quits, and that is exactly what you are doing so huge congrats to you.

I also started running after quitting and have never felt better.

Keep up the good work.

Haze, John, Alex, Magwillz and Blue, thank you all.....yes I was angry, the first two weeks were the worst, much much easier now, well, today at least.

I don't know how the running will go, I was no good at distances when I was younger let alone now; I was a county sprinter and ran to train for that so still enjoyed it. I'm under no illusions and have had a few regretful moments wondering about lost years, all that stuff, but I'm trying to stay upbeat; I can't change anything, no-one made me smoke and the reasons behind stopping running years ago weren't just the ciggies anyway!

If I could do a two mile Fun Run or something daft like that and get a medal I would be a happy Bear! :) Sounds silly but that's where I am now, and it's not a bad place to be.

A six month reward? It would be three days before Xmas, sure I can think of something; I wonder if the Missus would let me get the Star Wars outfit I've always wanted?? :D

I know exactly where you're coming from. When I first quit I booked myself in for a 10K Ladies Midnight Walk for our local hospice. No idea if I would be able to complete it! Although it was tough I made it - and got a medal which I am very proud of and raised over £300 in the process.

LET THE FORCE BE WITH YOU :D

Hope the costume is not the Princess:eek:

Thanks Karri.....ha ha Magwillz it's an Imperial Stormtrooper one I've always wanted though at the prices they are, I will never have one! I'm too fat anyway but one must dream :D

Can a mod change this guys username to PlacidBear now ;)

Congrats mate on your milestone. I don't want to be a glass half empty guy but watch out for the next two months also. Not the cravings as you don't get them but more of the missing those cigs. Keep going.

Hello AB

1. Well done you, never doubted you from the beginning

2. You really DO need to lose the Angry now! (I've been addressing you with just the initials for ages anyway!). ;)

Brilliant stuff, give yourself a big pat on the back. I think the 'unbelievable' bit must stay with us for a while - clearly we all doubt our own capabilities - as we all say things like 'don't know how I got here/managed this' etc. Main thing though, is that we did. WOO HOO!!

Yes, we need to keep our guards up and not be compacent - stopping is easy, staying stopped is the hard bit.

I shall make no mention of the outfit!

Keep it up matey, you've done great and are an inspiratiion to others.:D

Hey AngryBear, well done for reaching month 3 mate. I'm currently in my third month of quitting too and can relate to your "feeling 18 again" thing. I have recently taken up running also and I really have not felt as fit, good, positive and healthy in years (11 to be precise when I was actually 18 and started smoking!!) It really is a great feeling, huh?

Congrats for getting this far and the best of luck to you :)
