Day 2 is done.. Whew.. It was kind of rough. I'm tired, having headaches, coughing, and irritable but I'm so excited that I've finally decided to quit. I need all the support I can get! My husband smokes and probably won't quit so it's going to be hard!!
I'm new here and just completed day two - No Smoking Day

Yes, it will be hard. For a little while.
That said, it won't help to keep affirming that it will be hard. Your brain will make that come true, and it will be harder than it has to be. You might just as well affirm that it will be surprisingly easy, and see how that feels!
Best of luck.
Hey Ashley, Welcome to the forum & congrats on the positive decision to quit! There are lots of nice friendly people on here who have all been / going through stopping smoking who will offer great support. It is also worth reading some of the fantastic threads too. all the best for day 3............ it is soooo totally worth it!
Hi Ashley,
Well done on getting started! It may well be that you feel all out of snorts for a while, but rest assured that once your body starts adjusting to not smoking you will start to feel better soon. Most people complain about flu-like symptoms in the beginning, and nose-throat congestion can last for several weeks or even months. I dont want to put you off, just giving some points of reference.
It is a big challenge to quit when your partner continues to smoke! Remember that a) you will come out better for being strong and quitting and b) setting a good example often makes others follow!
Good luck with it all!
Alex.
Well done on completing 2 days smoke free!
My partner smokes as well. It is not ideal but I realised that I only have control over what I do and I don't want to smoke. In the past I have used the fact he smokes as a reason I started smoking again. Not this time. It is my choice if I smoke and I do not want to smoke.
Keep the excitement, you have made the right choice.
Hi and welcome to the forum
what Ellie says is right especially the part about you only have control over your what you do
trying to stay positive is a big plus and focusing on each day as it comes along and not too far ahead is also the best approach
regards
Carol

Hi and welcome. As everyone has said a brilliant decision to quit. Hope fully your OH will follow suit and make it all a little easier for you. Good luck!
welcome
congrats on day 2, it will geteasier stick in there, im on day 5 now and its a dam site better than day 1
like you my partner is a smoker and i am around him 247 as we both on leave and it is not bothering me yet, you can do this. in your mind jst prepare for when he has one and keep busy, it may help if he smoke in just one area.
remember to keep busy when that craving arrives, it only lasts a min, albeit a powerful minute but either way its a min. you done amazing to getthrough the hardest day, stay strong, there will be more hard days to come but over time it wil lease and you will build a new life away from the smokers
derek
Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision to quit.
Like everyone has said it's not easy at the minute but it will get easier. The time will seem to go very slowly but as you progress you will look back and be amazed at how quickly it has gone. I started off by breaking my day into chunks and wasn't going to smoke for that chunk. I then went to days. Now that I think about it, I didn't set myself a goal for getting through the day yesterday or today so it does get easier.
Congrats on day 2!

Because you started, is a great big step! Your doing great! Many of us
have to start somewhere right? So I too have had to do day 1 2 3 and
so on...it will be a bit of a challenge with the Hubby still smoking...
but be strong, and I suggest a lozenge under the tongue when it gets ruff!
Best of luck!!!! Everyone here wants you to succeed!
Massive well done and welcome. I found this forum a massive help and still do
My OH is still smoking, what can I say, I find it more annoying than anything.
Sometimes i feel like ramming his cig down his throat!! Hehe that sounds terrible but it depends on the situation. He has tried to quit in the past and I think he's seeing how I get on and trying to test me somehow? Most of the time I feel really sorry for him and also worried as he has a terrible cough:eek:
It has been said before but make your quit your own and I'm sure you will be fine.
Best of luck
