Day 12 i'm new here :-)

Hi everyone

I have been reading lots of posts on this website for about 6 months now and have finally plucked up the courage to post.

I am currently on day 12 of my quit cold turkey and feel ok. I'm struggling a bit on a night time as this was when I would smoke the most and also finding I'm very snappy and teary at the moment. I'm hoping this will pass soon for the sake of my partner and poor children.

I am currently 32 weeks pregnant so have felt tremendously guilty about smoking, I was smoking secretly because I felt so ashamed. I stopped at 17 weeks for 4 weeks then started again stupidly, however this time I feel like there is no going back ever. I have read Alan Carr's book and found it amazing. I wasn't enjoying smoking at all and finally see it for the drug addiction that it really is, to be honest I can't believe it was something that I ever believed I enjoyed.

Anyway I just thought I would post to gain some extra support, everyone seems to be great on here. I really hope I won't be judged for smoking during my pregnancy.

Thanks for reading.

Natalie

Hello what a great star to my morning, seeing we have another quitter with us, very nice indeed.:p

12 days in is a big achievement so hope your proud of yourself, doing brilliant, it can be so so horrid a times in the early stages of our quits, but I promis as your mind and boy adjusts to the new none smoking person, these quit symptoms will go. Promis

Yes I had my first child young, back in the day as they say, I even had a smoke in the hospital, ( how silly of me) the good news is you have now stopped.

Sending a little bit of luck your way, and please keep us updated with your progress.

Congratulations from me on both counts:cool:

Who are we to judge? Nicotine is a wickedly addictive drug that fools us into thinking we need and enjoy it and I'm sure every single day you promised yourself you wouldn't smoke only to hate yourself every time you gave in to it's demands. You have done the right thing coming here, so many of us have been where you are and can offer you all the support you need. Good luck and congratulations on the baby ;)

A big welcome from me too, Natalie, and huge congratulations on your pending arrival. :) It'll be lovely to have another forum baby en route (as has been said, Doodle is also expecting so you aren't alone).

You'll be on Day 13 by the time you read this and I am sure that on this occasion 13 will be lucky for you. Nearly two whole weeks under you belt- that's terrific! Well done that Natalie! :D

I shall look forward to your posts and hearing how everything is going.

Welcome :)

Double congratulations for you, a new baby on the way and a 12 day quit. You are a very brave lady and I think that will help you on this journey :)

For me at day 12 the worst bit was struggling to sleep, I guess for you it is hard to work out if tearfulness is hormone baby related or nasty nic related. Either way you are doing it!

You are already a success :D

Thanks so much for all of your replies. On day 13 now, almost day 14 and still going strong. It's nice to hear there is someone else expecting too :-) I had a secret baby shower thrown for me today which took my mind off it completely. It was fab to just chill and be pampered for a few hours and not have to worry about sneaking off for a puff.

Really looking forward to sharing my journey with you all, it's great to have some extra support.

Hi Natalie

Welcome to the forum, it's a great place. Well done on 12 days, that's fab. Don't worry about not managing before, fresh start now. I'm another that didn't manage to quit whilst pregnant, a long time ago but we can't rewind so it doesn't matter and there is no point worrying about it after. Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck :)
