My sense of smell returns!!

I never realised how little I could smell until this last few days - its so weird! Today on the bus someone was stinking of smoke - I have never noticed this smell on anyone before and cant believe thats how I always smelt!!

Hi MP. I agree. I noticed it at first walking around asda. I can sniff a smoker from 10 paces now. In fact when I am out on a run I can tell if the driver of a car is smoking when it passes at 30mph.

I wonder if nicotine has been hiding any other of my super powers all these years? It could have been like our cryptonite.

I went to the doctors in a rural area just before Christmas when I wasn't smoking. Came out and said 'I can smell burning :eek:', thought there was a fire but it turned out to be someone smoking in the car park. Couldn't believe how strong it smelt.

Do you not notice now if you go into town the whole of the air smells of smoke? Maybe its just my town, but its really off putting. Sometimes I call into asda after work for bits and pieces, both doorways stink. I don't think the smoking ban is strict enough. I dread to think what it smells like for someone who has never ever smoked. I worry about my carbon monoxide level going up for next time I go to see the nurse, so all of this tobacco smelling air is really annoying me!

Hell yes Rochelle, especially being in Cardiff, the city centre is a nightmare! And I worry about my clothes getting stinky in case my doctor won't believe I have quit again!

Don't worry about your carbon monoxide reading, anything 5 or under is the reading of a non-smoker, and quit nurses make allowances for car fumes etc.

Yeah mine last time was only 1. So if it goes up to 2 or 3 ill be blaming passive smoking lol. I just worry if it goes up then she will think I'm lying about not having a sneaky one

the smell of nicotine off someone reeks. Its smell like cat urine. AWFUL. Cant believe I used smell like that and didn't even notice.

Ugh I know, thinking cos you're chewing chewing gum you don't smell. I can tell a smoker a mile off now lol the worst is one that has just had one freshly. They smell minging

Mine was 4 at my first appointment but I hadn't had a cig all that day so could have been 10 or something while I was smoking?

I've heard of peoples being near to 40 :/ that must be scary. I mean we all know carbon monoxide is bad stuff. Look at when dodgy boilers or gas fires let it out, it could kill us after a while. Yet we were breathing it in like it wasn't harmful.

Cant believe I used to give my kids cuddles smelling like that!!

My reading before I stopped was 16 but yeah there were a few with 30 somethig readings, I am going to ask her to do mine again on Thur night.
