It's silly isn't it - go to so much effort to look nice and then go and spoil it with a fag! Much better now :)

Yeah but now when you come back from the pub you smell still. I hate that, makes me want a shower when I get back in.

yukk

I went to 'mate's' flat I use to smoke fags and dope with. I haven't seen much of him since I cleaned up (no surprise).

The place was a stinking mess of students with spliffs akimbo, rolling gear everywhere, overflowing ashtrays stinking on every surface ... All of them lolling about with arrested emotional development, talking b*ll*cks and playing inane Xbox games all day long, dreaming of projects they'd like to do ... some day in the far distant future... possibly.... maybe... uh...

The shock I got was, of course, that only a few years ago, that was me. If there was ever a 'flashback' to make sure I didn't ever start smoking again, that was it.

:p :p :p

The smell is one of the worst things - I had no idea!! Now I'm one of those awful ex-smokers that can't stand it when people smoke in frton of me - it stinks! It gets in my eyes - how did I put up with it for so long!!

Just needed to share with a weird experience today.

I was sitting at the back of a bus when a girl and a toddler got on and sat opposite me.

The girl then proceeded to cough at regular 30 second intervals - fine you might think but very strangely every time she coughed this dreadful stench of rank, wet ashtrays came over me.

I couldnt believe that it really could be the stale contents of her lungs that were to blame but there was no other explanation for it!

When she didnt cough,i couldnt smell it.

I normally am immune to the smell of smoke on someone, having smoked for 23 years but this was something else that made me feel physically ill for my 10 min journey and I couldnt wait to get off the bus.

One thing that saddened me was that the toddler also had a cough :( and it reminded me of all the years I smoked and inflincted secondary smoke upon my poor babies lungs too.

I gave up smoking 7 months ago.
