Hi all, just joined this site as im looking for all the support i can get and read other peoples journeys to being smoke free.
Im starting champix on saturday after seeing a nurse at smoking cestation clinic on tuesday. Had a shock with my carbon monoxide reading, i knew it was gonna be high but not as high as it was.

I'm on Champix too & have reached 2 weeks tomorrow of not smoking. Champix is great - takes the edge off cravings although I still find they're still there. However it does make quitting manageable.
Deep breathing helps me a lot too. I can feel my lungs have improved even after 2 weeks.
Welcome, I'm a relative newbie to the forum (day 15 of my quit). I hope you find it as supportive and encouraging as I have . Good luck with your quit.
Welcome Tracy, I am also a newbie. Quit on New years eve at 9:30 pm. Just started my second month. I started with the patch but after 15 days went cold turkey. I smoked 3 packs a day (60 fags) and I smoked for 43 years.
If I can do it you can.
Hang out here as much as you need to, the group is fantastic and will help as much as possible. It all depends on how much YOU want to quit. It won't be easy but it will be worth it!!! ppat
Welcome Tracey, firstly let me say you have come to the right place, we are all experts on stopping smoking because are all going through just the same as what you are,
we have the pangs the needings, the screamings and the urgers. We are here whenever you feel you need to talk. We are strong together, we all need each other to get through to this, and we will get through it together.
Good luck Tracy. There are a lot of us who quit using champix - it really helped me to deal with those first few weeks. I didn't find it a nice drug to take, but it certainly took the edge off the cravings. Have you set your quit date yet?
Not set a quit date as yet wanted to see how i go on with the champix and take each day as it comes. No pressure on myself but u do really want to quit and keep it as stress free as i possibly can.
Day 2 of Champix feeling a little sickly but not too bad.
Mental note: think id better stop drinking so much tea haha
I gave up about 2 years and 3 months ago using Champix and have never looked back. I really do feel like a non-smoker now and instead of being envious when I see someone smoking I feel pity for them! One of the things that I found really good when I stopped for the first few months when I was feeling a bit stressed or down was Bach Rescue Remedy spray really helped to take the edge off and cheer me up. Good look to everyone though you really will be so glad you have done it!!
Well day 4 on champix and starting double dose today, still feeling a little sick but coping with it. I think my attitude is slowly changing into a none smoker too as i found myself telling off the men at work for smoking haha.
Smoking cestation clinic tonight bet my cardon monoxide reading is higher than last week. These are just my thoughts for the day and probably sound like a diary. Ah well if it helps.
Has anyone on champix experianced smoking more when they first start? am i trying to cram as many fags in before i quit.
Day 6 of champix, not stopped smoking yet. The nausea has gone in the morning and no other side effects. Will see what day 8 brings when the dosage goes up hopefully things will start to work.
Hello fellow ex smokers , I'm day 21 after smoking 20 a day for 25 years ! I am so chuffed I still can't believe it ! Each day it gets easier and I have completely forgotten about my morning fag with my strong black coffe . I now drink decaff tea ( someone pinch me ) I had a few low days but used some mood tonic stuff and it worked . Looking forward to day 90 ! Good luck everyone x x
Hi all, my Day to give up is tomorrow and am really looking forward to it:),
i have set this date a week ago.
I started back smoking about 2 years ago after a year and a 1/2 of not smoking after taking champix, really gutted i had that first fag but hey thats how it goes.
As i said though i am really excited about stopping:D.
My reasons to stopping is i want to have a baby so have big insentive for me... so here goes ................................
Hi and welcome Tracy, good luck in your quit. I find sipping water helps a great deal, im on xtra strong mints with the occasional Loz when needed. All the best in your quit. Jacqui

All I can say is I'm so glad I found this forum. There have been times I've felt alone with my quit but I popped on here and read some threads or posted something and found everyone to be very supportive. Good luck to all newbies . . . I'm on day 24 (cold turkey) some day's are easier than others but I keep trying to focus on the fact that one day I wont even think about cigarettes!
I am very pleased to say that i have now been a non-smoker for the last 2 weeks, its a great feeling and im actually feeling sorry for smokers. Wish id gone on champix ages ago.
No coughing, no nicotine stains, lovely nails and hair and most of all i can smell and taste better. Hmmm lovely toast with jam and a nice cup of tea in the morning for breakfast instead of a fag. key is to replace with nice things
I'm from Malaysia. I can't seem to find any similar and helpful community nearer to me. My stop date was initially 16 March 2012, with the help of Champix (on day 4 now).
After reading several threads from day 1,2,4-7, to 2 months, I've decided to make today my quit day today. I've given away my pack of fags (only smoked 2) to my colleague. Last cigarette will be today at 10:15 am.
Brief background, I'm now 27 this year, started smoking when I was 17. I've smoke 15 a day and recently 20 a day. Started thinking it was awesome, cool and bad ass.
Reason to stop:
1. Health of course
2. No more stinking the room and the house
3. No more dwelling and worrying on whether the next hangout place provides smoking area or not.
4. No more waking up with tight chests
Have been on Champix and had trouble sleeping. Today is day 4, which means a double dose (day and night), and I'm a bit skeptical. Nonetheless, I'll still consume them and hope the side effects are not as great as expected.
Wish me luck, I guess I'll post in 1 Day at 10:15am tomorrow
Well done. I've just started my 3rd month. I came across this forum one night when I thought I was cracking up. It does really help! Just reading that others have gone through the same as you and how they have got through it helps. Stay determined and positive you can do this.If at any time you feel you are struggling get on here talk and read about it.
