Hey, well it's day 3....and I'm struggling to be honest. Could cope with the dizzyness n the cravings- but I feel that this afternoon iv reached a bit of a low point. its been cold turkey for me so far- thinking about going to get some nicotine gum or strepsil things. Not decided tho,. Just feeling a bit low.

If you think it would help I'd get some gum or try some nicoquit(spelling?) minis. A lot of people on here seem against the nicotine replacements but as I'm using patches and inhalator I'm definitatly all for it:)

Today was a toughie for me too, everywhere I looked a lunchtime people were smoking. I had to keep telling myself that for every person I saw smoking I saw at least 30 that weren't!

Keep going, day 4 is approaching :)

Well, i think you're all doing brilliantly. I'm only on day 9, but found no cravings first two or three days, then lots of evening cravings since! I have a weird way of dealing with it. I "smoke" biros! and i come on here. I think it is getting easier now. And saying out loud " I want a cigarette" and then thinking, yeah, but that's ok, i want one, but i'm not having one. Sometimes i get really raarrhhhy about wanting one. Then i shout at inanimate objects like the hoover or the sink cutlery drainer. You have no idea how foul mouthed i can be to white goods too.

Eating carrots-lol- I have a massive bag of em in the fridge, peel em n eat em ,feel so much better after n has been helping with the craving. Craving will probs be worse end of first week, beginning of second. Stick up on gum/veg and hang in there! I have found this website really supportive (and not hate carrots, lol). Day 3 nearly over, phew!!

ps: writing on here has helped me a lot so far!! keep on posting :)

your very welcome, just remember to pat yourself on the back for everyday and do facing a mirror with a smile (sounds daft but works) on a bad day look in the mirror again you will soon decide the face that you prefer :)

Bad evening this evening! Had lovely dinner and felt like something is missing ever since :( My other half who had quit too seems to be fine, he smoked ultra light cigs so is doing it cold turkey.

Been frantically chewing pens all day too!! Not so keen on raw carrot (unless it's with a dip :)) but sounds like a good idea.

Roll on day 4.

Glad u had a lovely dinner!! Pens n carrots n all that- u will find what ur thing is!! I am drinking about 4 cups of decaf tea most evenings at the moment. Iv found it takes the edge off!!

It is more difficult when ur partner is finding it easier- mine is finding it tough which im suprised at as he only ever smokes when he is with me!! It is all about supporting each other. I like to talk about it- he doesnt. I want to talk bout craving- and he wants to ignore it (which is why im here typing this!!). Different things work for different people- u have to find ur thing! Dont compare urself to him n how hes doing, stay focused and remember that if he is finding it a bit easier then he will have more energy to support you :) I think the next few evenings are going to be the worst....itle be worth it.

Can I ask ur reasons for quitting?

I'm like you, I like to talk about it, I guess that's why we're on here and they aren't! I'm shocked how well the other half is doing as he didn't really want to quit, I persuaded him too as I knew I'd really struggle going it alone (last time I didn't last 24 hrs:p). It is good as I don't have to worry about him as well as me.

I've lots of reasons for quitting... We want to start a family soon, my Mum really wanted me to, the huge waste of money it is and of course the health side of things. My mum was a smoker 20 years ago and is now very anti smoking and would never touch one again, I used to think I'd hate to be like that about smoking and now I can't wait :)

My turn to be nosy, what's your reasons?

l only i hope they start to get easier, i have not been too bad on day 3 apart from evenings.Im fine when im at work busy. i read the Allen Carr easy way to stop smoking. it seems very good, as this is the first time ive tried the cold turkey way. im feeling worse than i ever have this evening.

Thanks for speaking so honestly about reasons. All makes sense- and its nice ur talking about family things being so important. I am glad we are able to come on here and talk about it!

We dont smoke inside (which makes it a hell of a lot easier to quit) but keep thinking- ooh I pop outside and have a quick one!! I know what u mean when u said earlier about feeling like ur missing something.

My reasons are:

- I have been smoking over 10 years now

- I am 26 and everyone used to say that I looked really young (like still 18- i get IDd all the time) but recently wrinkles and the way my skin looks- I actually noticed I now look like a smoker (does that make sense)?

-Breath/teeth- smokery n disgusting

- Want to start running again

-I HATE BEING A SMOKER!! lol.

-THe longer I leave it the worse It will be.

I remember from quitting before, after 1 week I had a smoke and it tasted disgusting- not worth having done 1 week. I think il feel better after 1 week knowing that if I do smoke it will not be the same taste- or that taste that Iwant it to be. 3 days- good for us all eh ? :)

Tomorrow ul have to give me the reasons why u want to continue to be a smoker.....i cant think of many!! Hope ur evening has got easier, 3 days, as u said, when was the last time u went 3 days without smoking....i cant remember mine!! :)

Good and lots of reasons! I've downloaded an app on my phone with mine listed in case I need to refer to them. Not looked yet tho lol.*I'm loving the app that tells me how much money I've saved... £18 so far :)

I know what you mean about starting to look older, I've hit the grand old age of 31 and don't need anything that will make me look older! I hated being a smoker too, why did I ever start...
