Is this a Pattern ?

It seem the "quitters" who post on day 1, and then become "ACTIVE" on the forum are the "Quitters" who stand a better chance?

It show that NRT, CT , Champix and willpower play thier part, but man ALIVE this forum plays a HUGE part.

Or is it my imagination?

Don't think it is your imagination Gary, lot of people on here think that supporting and helping other quitters helps ourselves. This forum allows people in the same position to empathise with each other and get rid of the frustrations that stopping smoking brings. David

X2 to what Davo mentions above.

But also that knowledge that you gain in the process of quitting you then post in support to others thus consolidating the information in your own head. It all helps towards eradicating the redundant and TBH erroneous brain washing that somehow smoking is good for you.

I agree with what you said . It defenatly helps me and its only right for me to give now the support to others, that was given to me . :D

I think this place definately helps,

In another post, it mentions how much more help can be got from here than from a stop smoking nurse, who has never smoked, and just has a handful of leaflets. Nothing like real experience eh!

But on the other hand, I think we all remember what terrible guilty liars to ourselves we were as smokers. My suspicion is that a lot of people that "fall off the wagon" tend to disappear quietly. That's why I'm always looking out for the regulars from September on here to make sure nobody gets away!! :)

Absolutely, and without a doubt, if I hadn't had this forum I would have failed.

I've had so much support here, in good times and bad. It makes a huge difference not to feel alone. And nobody - nobody - can understand as well as a fellow quitter.

But giving the support is equally, if not more, important. It helps to reaffirm your reasons, and remember your own struggles, when responding to other people. It helps you to stay on guard and avoid complacency. Also, at moments when tempted to smoke I've reflected on how much of a hypocrite I would feel if I caved in, after telling everyone else not to!

More than once in this quit I've stood looking at the tobacco display and felt an army of NSD quitters at my shoulder saying 'noooo, don't do it!'. And I've listened. And here I am, ten months quit.

So thankyou to all here, you collectively ROCK :D

I can only agree with all that's been said and like Helen i wouldn't be here 10 months down the line (well, 10 months in 7 days;)) without this forum and the people on it.

Nuff said :D

Thanks to one and all ;)

I've found this forum to be such a great help, not just in 'argh' moments, but the general camaraderie (sp?) as well.

Keps me going while I'm at work... although I not sure my work keeps going enough now :o

Def! I came here on third day thinking i need to start talking. I think it's the best choice i've done so far in regards to quitting. this is my first week so i'm rather sensitive, but being active on the forum helps me not to forget why i'm fighting:)

i also like the fact that i could come here and display all my weird and inconstant habits about quitting again and again. i thought it was only me who took cigarettes so seriously, somehow the majority of people never talk about how hard it is to quit should they wish to, and the once that don't smoke.. well... my only support used to be my sister, but she is an occasional smoker, she can chain-smoke at a party and then go weeks without puffs. i could never explain to her why i feel so stressed out every time i fail in quitting, why one cig triggers a new addiction, why i couldn't go through the day not having one, but every time i did i would complain explaining to every one that actually i thought i quit yest. so my point is that i can express my feeling here without fear, and in a way that is a help in itself already:)

thank you everyone, hoping this time i will last and last and last...
