Hello, newbie at Day 5!

Hello, I am a newbie here and just exploring all of your advice and wanted to say hello.

I've tried to give up once before and made it to 3 weeks (I've been smoking 10 a day for 15 years) before going back on it.

I am trying again and I am now on Day 5 (after reading the Allen Carr book) and I'm actually doing ok (famous last words)

I am eating rather a lot (sweets and grapes) and I am going to try 5-HTP to deal with the irritability but its cold turkey for me.

I guess I am just here for the whoop you can do it - and to give any support back to people at the same stage as me.

    Seriously though - you can. Just keep taking it one day at a time. Just keep making that choice not to smoke today, and let the rest take care of itself. Before you know it you'll have such an established quit and you'll feel great.

    Never heard of 5HTP. What's that?

    I had a temper tantrum last night after my first alcoholic drink since quitting, but doing ok again today. Tomorrow night will be the test (a party!).

    5HTP is a heath supplement you can buy from Holland + Barrett, its basically a serotonin enhancer, meant to be good for quitting smoking (helps with the depression and irritability) I was recommended it by a friend. I start it tonight so I shall see how I get on.
