Oh my god I have completed week 2 without a puff ... and honestly I am not even missing it anymore .. yesterday I had a few glasses of wine with friends and some of them are smokers ... they had to go out all the time to smoke ... BKK very strict as well with smoking ... I sat there and kept enjoying my wine ... Actually when they walked in front of me later that evening puffing away I got some of the smoke into my face ... it didn't even made me think that I want one .. lol
Wow I am actually free ....
Now one thing what i find interesting are the new tastes ... I used to be a Pro Chef ... and even as a smoker i had a well trained palate ... and tasted really well .. but I just found a few things now that I used to like in food and now as i get the full flavor I find them actual disgusting... I find that really funny ...
So my stats say I did not smoke 286 cigarettes in the last 2 weeks , and saved 2 days 4 hours and 33 minutes of my life ...
But can you imagine 286 cigarettes in an ashtray ... seriously 1.5 carton ... all piled up .. something i can't even imagine anymore ...
You all have a great day ... I am going to buy myself a Mc Flurry OREO today as reward ... hehe I love McFlurry ...

Louise can I suggest you some things that might help you ...
Read the Allen Carr Book .. it really was an eyeopener for me ... and then face the addiction with the 5 Steps I posted yesterday in the TIPS section .. it actually does work...
Embrace the cravings ... and take pleasure out of them .. in telling your self that you are stronger than this nicotine monster ...
It really does work for me all the time .. yeah I sometime would love to have a cigarette .. but ... then i asked myself why ... and I can't come up with a good reason ... so I don't have it ... lol
Its all in your mind at this point of a quit ... really .. the worst thing is that you go like I must not smoke ... I must not smoke .. I must not smoke ..
See it from the different angle ... and just say ... I choose not to smoke ... and what I choose is what i do .. change the angle .. let the cravings come and enjoy your tiny little battles ... actually you are the winner and you know that as you go in them .. a good feeling after all knowing that you are the master and you win the battle anyhow ... hehe
Hope i make some sense ...
Congratulations you managed so far already ... you win the rest as well
Why can't i feel like you
I am quite pleased with myself for getting this far, but the urge to smoke is soooooooo great:mad:
I am determined not to give in to it, but finding it so very hard.
I can't wait to be able to post something really positive.
congratulations, I am so happy for you (and a little envious too)
instead of whinging all the time I am going to refer to your tips and try to be more positive, after all you are right, I have chosen not to smoke and could actually have one at any time.
did you get these from the Allen Carr book?? can't remember them if you did, I did read the book, but was a little confused at the beginning of the book as he quit after seeing a hypnotherapist, but then insisted it was in spite of and not because of! how can he be sure of that? and the chapter before the end he was promoting his next book "How to quit smoking permanently" if the first book didn't work, I found it quite disheartening! most of it though was very inspiring and my hypnotherapist worked along the same lines. I still don't know if the hypnotherapy stopped me or not, but who cares? I haven't had one since so something is working and thanks to you I am going to be more postive from now on
I am glad it was not only me!! I had already booked with the Hypnotherapist before I finished the book, so I had sort of given up on it, but my hypnotherapist told me to finish it and that was when I read about buying his next book!!! that was like mind kill for me
Sad thing is that he died 23 years after quitting from Lung Cancer!!
still, here we are, smoke free, big pat on the back to us all, that's what I say
It's really quite amazing the stats thing, isn't it? The number of cigs avoided, the money saved, the days of life gained etc. The greater the distance between you and the quit, the more astonishing the numbers become... Wow!
I guess you both read the first book .. I didn't I actually read the 2nd book from the beginning ... and i didn't find him so patronizing then .. well he reminds you that you need to follow the instructions ... and he says if you are still at this point ( before you are actually smoking the last ciggi ..) unsure of something you should go back to this chapter or other chapter .. ... I mean for me it was not the biggest revelations as well .. I thought it made all sense though ... and something changed my attitude of quitting ... I tried many times believe me ... many many many times
Now the face addiction tips I wrote in the Tips section are not from him ....
Louise I am so happy I could help ... and that you will see it more positive now ... It is sometimes just the words of someone that is in the same shoes that will change your viewpoint .... glad I did help you thats what the forum is all about ...
Karri looking forward to read your quit day start day in your signature soon
yeah these stats are incredible ... yeah I can't even imagine what it will say after 1 year quit :eek:
