Things do get much easier Debbie, I'm coming to the end of day 11, I'm thinking about cigarettes less, having less urges , the periods of "empty headedness" have disappeared,no more nosebleeds, my sleeping pattern is back to normal and I've not spent over £80 pounds on cigarettes.

Despite the above, I still wont be dropping my guard.

Good luck.

it gets easier

I think the first few days are the worst as far as cravings are concerned after that it gets easier but weird things start happening to your body. for me it was tiredness and afloaty spaced out feeling. then a cough that lasted days, sore gums/throat, constipation[ so drink plenty of water and eat fruit. get ready for possibly becoming depressed which is probably like a bereavment for something that was a big part of your life . mood swings. after the first wk time just flys by and befoere you know it a month has gone by i dont get cravings now just passing thoughts which im always careful of they are quite sneakyand rational and trixy,ps download a quit meter from why quit they really help. when it gets hard keep it 1 hr @ a time ! challenge @ a time 1 day@ atime it worked for me and iv been quit for 5 wks and lovin it.........Mashx;);

woke up this morning and my tounge feels huge. sore too. kids are having probs understanding me. I can only assume that maybe it was clogged up with nicotine and is now trying to sort itself out. If I dont believe that I will go google it and probaly fool myself into some horrendous tropical disease thats one of the worst possible ways to die.

mmm yes well i see im feeling a bit of a drama queen today.

i just wish for 1hour i could stop thinking about them constantly. poor kids, this is gonna be a horrible holiday for them.:(

Oh well 2hours and I will be on day 5. thats a big deal for me. never been on day 5 before.

Hi Debbie,

poor you with the tongue! Hope it gets better soon.

Thinking about them constantly... part of the deal I'm afraid. You can't stop it, so the best thing you can do is turn it around into something positive, rather than let it drive you nutso.

If you find yourself thinking about smoking think of what you've achieved, how much you're saving. Read about the positive changes that are happening. Keep a tally of the number of hours or days you've gone without a fag. If you're craving, take a deep breath and appreciate being able to smell and breathe better. Keep congratulating yourself for every milestone and every crave beaten. If you must think about them you might as well make it good thoughts!

Keep going! Five days is fantastic, you should be proud.

Helen

Not helping bad situation. Gotta admit am at my lowest ever point so far. Cannot cave in now but really struggling!

30 mins! Corner shop closes and I no longer have the choice .just 30 mins and I will have the choice taken away from me. I will be stronger when I haven't had a drink I will have had 1st week completed. Know I should be. Able to do this.

Strange how this thing works but just knowing another human being is out there + gunning for you. Well it helps a bit. And as my mum says- every little helps. Sooo wanna get to 7 days. 10:45am gotta do it, don't wanna say what I promised myself as reward, but am sure u have been there or similar. Thank **** for champix! And karrie of course!

Ps am IN bath right now! Blushes! Blackberries handy things!

Great job Debbie! You made it to a week, WOW!! I'm right behind you, I hit a week tomorrow!

If you ever feel like caving in, think of how much you've done and how great you're feeling and I bet you won't because it is a great feeling, isn't it?

Keep it up!
