Hi Matt :)

It can be tough when you're drinking 'cos it always went together didn't it?

But, you'll be amazed how fast you get past that and actually I can't remember the last time i had a few and missed smoking :S

What one of my friends did to help me was give me a straw to "smoke" if you mimic the action it should help - anything will do the job, a bit of paper rolled up, lollypop stick, just pretend you're smokign and it should help you get past the crave :)

You can do it!!

Well in gonna have a quiet weekend this weekend i think, once i get week 1 out of the way will make me feel better, because then i just need to repeat the same process next week, yeah that sounds like a good idea!! i was thinking about the ecig but thinking that's a bad idea now nicotine out my system!

That's a very good idea!! You're off to a great start but booze can be very tricky, especially if you're out with smokers.

If you do get an e-cig, definitely get a 0 nicotine one 'cos I'm hooked on my nicotiney one - Una on here's got one and Hayley is getting one. If it keeps you off the real ones it's good, and with no nicotine it's not going to get you re-hooked, but don't use it all the time 'cos of the hand to mouth action.

Your doing fabulously - well done! In my first week I made my hubby take me to a different pub rather than the one we go to every week. I still wanted to go out but was worried about drinking bringing on a craving. So I thought a complete change of scenery would help me and it did work for me. :)

Yeah i know i just getting that feeling that my weekend is gonna be stressful cause it first one as non smoker. Gonna try the nicotine free e cig too, i don't think i can really go wrong with that  in gonna have to face the night out situation soon, but gonna leave that until next weekend i think !

As Gemma said, the zero nicotine e-cig is good. There isn't any difference in the taste because mine came with 16 mg cartridges and I couldn't tell which was which. You'll soon get used to drinking without smoking. I go out of the pub and join the smokers. I missed that:)

When the going gets tough the tough get going

Matt you are doing really good but be careful while having a drink I hope when you are in the pub it's raining and cold outside and you will see the poor addicts going out to have their fix I used to be one of those it's 7 weeks ago I stopped and although not easy it can be done after all if it was easy there would be no one smoking

That's a very good point!!

And when your smoker friends come back in - the smell  icky ick!!

Lol and one of my friends always comes back and breathes Mayfair fumes all over me *but* I used to be as bad 9 months ago :eek:

Hello Matt,

Good idea having a quiet weekend me thinks....it's a new world this no smoking... A Much Much Better world but it does take some getting used to. We have all had that 1st weekend and all here to tell the tale. Won't deny it's ****** tough but just think how you will feel Monday morning knowing you got through it and you know what ? Where that feeling is there are a whole lot more feelings like that :) Try not to think too much of the future as yet though because you are taking your day in 10 min chunks right !

Good Luck Matt :)

Well done, Matt!

Why not have a lazy weekend and just do things that you enjoy....that way, you will have something to look forward to!

I spent the first two days of my quit stuffing my face with chocolate and nuts.:o Apart from work, I spent all my time on here, too! No housework done; all I wanted to do was pamper myself. :o

With every day that passes successfully by, you will feel more and more impressed with yourself.......which is exactly how it should be!

So go on, have a "Matt" weekend and enjoy yourself......popping in here regularly, of course, for any required support and to let us kow how well you are doing!

Val

Thanks for all the advise guys, I had a night in last night with a few beers, but didn't go near any form of cigarette or nicotine ha ha. I'm off to the gym in a min, as nearly put a stone on in last 6 days haha :/ x

Matt your doing well. Watching CBB is enough to stop you smoking they all smoke and it looks gross. Cant advise you on the drink thing I only drink tea and pineapple juice. Im banned from drinking as im a nightmare x:)
