I've got it in my mind that i am the only person in the world that can't stop. i have tried just about every method there is. Anyway quit date Monday, cold turkey!

Good Luck, i hope you succeed. Today is my quit day and i feel fantastic for now!! Oh and dont feel a failure coz i have tried before and failed. This time iv prepared as much as possible. Plus i just have to look at my children and that has encouraged me to go for it.

Let us know how you get on :)

You'll only be a failure if you "quit" quitting. :)

I think Cold Turkey is the best way.

Good Luck. (although I read a post somewhere here that luck has nothing to do with it.....but Good Luck anyway)

Hi Dean. Like you I have had lots of failed quits but think if I keep going one day it will click for me. The longest I have gone was in March where I caved in on day 8

I can identify with the embarassment part. I was going to give up giving up but decided quitting was more important than how my failures were perceived by others. It doesn't matter how many attempts it takes as long as you keep trying.

My quit day is also on Monday so you won't be alone. We can encourage each other when it gets hard and go along the rocky road together :)

Go Karri and Deano. Will be here Monday cheering you both on

Good to see you both back and trying again

A good plan....

The only thing that is important is that you stop........years from now when you have been quit for sometime the only thing that will be remebered is that fact that you have stopped not how many times you had to try.....

The worst possible thing you can do is stop trying.............as another member aptly puts it...........keep on keeping on!!

Good luck the pair of you.

Three days of nic withdrawal, and then it's all in the head, all about the choices you make. And when you want to smoke and the demons are telling you to cave, you just tell them to stick their cigarettes up their smelly little demon fundaments, because YOU CHOOSE FREEDOM. :D

Happy quitting!

Hi Dean yes I remember you and I wish you well in your final quit, you and Karri can be quit buddies as I am sure that by having some one who is also taking the plunge on the same day means you can spur each other on and also you can make a pact that you will continue to stay quit as long as the other does so that you have to be good so you dont let the other down, works for lots of people and I promise not to mention the water

Have a good one both and I look forward to your posts on Monday.

I've actually heard quitting smoking described as 'like catching a wave' & it really is true. Most people try loads of times & keep falling, then manage to just hang on one time & it sticks.

Hopefully this is the one for both of you.

Hi Deano, long time no speak. Well you and Karri together....hmm that relationship might work. Good on you both for having another try.

Something that might help is to not tell yourselves "I am stopping smoking and I can't have another fag ever." I think it's better to say "if I want one I can have one that's my choice". That may sound crazy but it is physiological, it is easier if you know you have a choice to make the right choice.

I hope you can understand what I mean, when I stopped I did not initially think " right that's it I've stopped." It was "let's see how long I can go without smoking".

I hope I'm helping but don't know if I am.

Jack:)

Well come on guys - how did it go?? Hope you are both still with us and on day 2 now!!
