Start my second day of blue pill tomorrow and it will be my quit day. Today i have felt so sick and already wondering what is this tablet doing to me? I certainly won't be able to continue with it unless this nausea goes away.

Champix......will it work?
Sorry Muirster, Ive never done Champix but there are users on here. All I know is that you should take the tablets with food or a big glass of water, but, I am only guessing really. Welcome to the forum anyway, and someone may be along soon. David
Hi Muirster I'm 10 weeks quit today (hooray) with the help of champix and this forum. I had terrible nausea as I was taking one in the morning without any breakfast so I decided to take one after lunch instead and had practically no nausea. There is a champix crew forum on this site which is very helpful and they can answer most of your questions as most of us have been through the same experience with this tablet, although some worst than others
Good luck with your quit - if I can do it anybody can
Hi, you will find that once you stop smoking the nausea will get better. I was ill the weekend I stopped, until I realised I felt really sick after a ciggie. Hang in there it does get better
Hi Muirster
I'll be six weeks quit on Friday so yes it does work I take my first tablet mid morning as soon as I've eaten something (well as I'm swallowing my last mouthful :p) and with a lot of water and touch wood I've not really suffered with the nausea. As Juliana said there is a Champix group on here you can join - and you'll find we've all had one side effect at some point.
Good luck with your quit and hope you're feeling better soon. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks everyone for your comments.....waited till i had toast, glass of milk etc and the nausea didn't last as long, so will persist.
Hiya - my mum stopped 8 weeks ago using Champix and she had smoked for 40 odd years:eek: It has been a real miracle for her - no cravings, no mood swings - really the easiest quit ever, she says it's like a wonder drug!
She was fine as long as she had eaten and drunk plenty of water - so keep at it as fingers crossed you will start to feel better soon
Well todays the day and I hope you are doing ok, it will get easier and you will never regret it I promise, get out and walk and drink plenty of ice cold water and healthy nibbles like most of us didnt keep posting and let us know how you are getting on x

Hey Muirster
Lots of people report nausea but it does get better. My next door neighbour uses Champix and thinks it is amazing, he now doesn't get the urge to smoke (on Champix for 6 weeks so far).
One thing to mention, he said that he gets drunk quicker. My understanding is that this has something to do with your metabolism slowing slightly. So for example you might find one glass of wine goes to your head instead of the usual two glasses - can't be all bad
Good luck with the quit and keep coming back for a chat.

Found it quiet hard today dealing with nausea and craving (or at least thinking i needed a cig) usually smoke 20 a day but only had three and each time thought i was going to chunder!! Had my evening tab after a big meal and feel ok. hope this really works as i have smoked since i was 14 and am now 44. I have a huge incentive: my sister-in-law was recently diagnosed with mouth cancer and is in hospital recovering from surgery, the op was horrendous..........i don't want that to be me. hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Well done for staying strong Muirster - it's all too easy to give in. Hopefully the nausea will ease off a bit in the next few days. Nasty news about your sister-in-law but hopefully the op went well - cancer is just such a nasty disease. I've lost so many relatives to it and they all smoked
Keep drinking plenty of fluids and let us know how you're getting on.
Hi Muirster,
Sorry to hear about your sister in law - hope she recovers well.
The nausea that you're getting with Champix is extremely common, I found it very bad at the start of my course but it did ease off alot once you finish smoking. It sounds as if the Champix is really starting to kick in - I could'nt belive just how disgusting it was smoking and I started cutting down after about a week on Champix.
It gets easier each day - I really thought that I was going to be a smoker until it finally killed me and I'd totally given up trying to stop smoking and I really saw champix as my last attempt. Yesterday marked my 8th week off stopping.
Keep posting on the forums and join some social groups as well, I can't stress how much easier this forum makes the bad times.
Hi Muirster:D....I have been a non smoker for 9 and a half months now:D....I gave up with Champix....as long as I took the champix on a full tummy and drank lots of water the nausea didnt happen......its a great drug and really helped me......good luck to you .....Cheers and take care.
Thanks for your comments once again guys, really helps to hear others views and opinions. For the first time i was unable to sleep at all last night which was irritating but hopefully tonight i'll be soooooooo tired i will sleep like a baby, a baby with weird dreams!!! strange side effect. Listening to advise i am leaving my first tab till a little later once I can stomach breakfast then hopefully no nausea.
