....job done! Big fat tick. To be fair, we're not talking a major acheivement here as I didn't drink a huge amount, and was with hubby who doesn't smoke- so it's a baby step rather than a major hurdle- but it feels good to have done it all the same.
I've also just realised it's 11pm and I've had no nrt today- so I may keep going with that tomorrow, tho I may not, I'll see how I feel in the morning and just do whatever feels right- it'd be great if I could be done with the nicotine altogether now, but I'm not going to give myself a hard time if I need to keep going with the nrt for another week or so

Hey, look at you with your ticking off the night out (even if a baby step and not a long heavy night) and no patch for the day.
I think it's a wise move to test yourself in a not to testing an environment. You did good
Good luck with going without another patch tomorrow if that's the right thing for you. If your not completely sure to go with or without, you may want to consider cutting one in half as a half way compromise.
Thanks all, it did feel good even if it was only a couple of pints in town. I’ve still not used any nicotine, and I don’t think I’m suffering too much for it, so since that’s almost 2 days I’m definitely going to try and keep going with it. I still have a huge supply of inhalator cartridges and gum around- so they’re there if it turns out I do still need them after all. Although, what I realise now is, I think I probably could have done it without the nrt anyway, signing up for the nrt was more a way of dealing with the “it’s too hard” panic that set in once I got serious about stopping, panic that was fed by the junkie in me anyway. I think it’s help has been more psychosomatic as well, (I think, I could be miles off of course) so when I crave I can reassure myself that I’ve got this stuff to help so I’ll be ok, rather than the nicotine itself. Not that I really care that much- all I give a monkeys about is not smoking and maintaining that

Hi Pols - it took me a couple of attempts at doing without the NRT. The first day I lasted until 3pm! But I've now been I think six days without NRT and there's no going back now. I've still got all the patches in the cupboard but I think I've cracked it now! But as you say don't force yourself. They are a programme and to maximise success should be followed but as long as you are aware it can be tough for a few days off the NRT (stock up on carrot sticks and chewing gum - non NRT gum!) then you'll be fine. Good luck
Hi everyone, this is really good stuff to read as I''ve been trying to ditch the NRT as well. So far I'm lasting about half the day but I'm going to try a whole day without the puffer tomorrow. It feels great to be even thinking like this
Hey trikeschick- well done on 6 days nicotine free, it's taking me a few falso starts to get it going right too- ended up having a piece of gum at about midnight last night, so starting again today. It's good though, because false starts just don't matter at all with the nrt- I'd sooner that than loads of false starts on quitting.
Al, I'm on the puffer too, and it went like that for me, 1st I could do the morn, then the afternoon too, then the evening as well. It's good with the puffer as you don't have to make a decision first thing, you can just see how the days go. Good luck tomorrow, I'll be hoping for my 2nd day without- I'm sure we can do it

Hi Pols, thanks for the good luck thoughts. I'm going to take the puffer along with me just in case! If I end up having a few puffs I won't beat myself up over it to start with - at least it's not ciggies. The smoking cessation nurse suggested I take the puffer with me but replace the nicotine capsule with some cotton wool with peppermint food flavouring dripped on it, so I may give that a go. Good luck for your 2nd day
