Day 5

Hi, day 5 here. I feel cravings today, but didn't yesterday. Something stupid at work got me irritated and "CIGARETTE" came into my head. I won't smoke though, but it is incredible how instantly I link the solution to stress as smoking.

I'm looking forward to getting off of work and going for a nice run. I've noticed that I can smell more today. This morning I noticed my conditioner has a scent, whereas before I didn't notice.

Me too! There is a little voice in my head today, but yesterday was a doddle. I noticed the smell of coffee much more strongly today.

  • Hey thats fabulous!!!

It was great for me to notice all of those little things like the subtle scents of things rather than having to be hit with a nasal sledgehammer to smell anything.... downside is you can smell yukky niffs too more vividly LOL!!!!

Its all hugely worth it, and you are both doing amazingly well... keep up the good work!!! xx

  • That's true. I was walking down a lane affectionately called 'stinky lane' by the locals, and noticed it is stinkier than usual. Or it's just my nose :)

  • Hi all. Great to hear everyone is getting on well - so much to be proud of.

Had a crazy day yesterday back at work and didn't get here last night but got through the day with no smokes and now on day 5...2 days back into work. Yesterday was a challenge eg the usual ritual times for a smoke kept cropping up BUT didn't give in and I have to say was easier than expected - lots of thoughts about cigs but no cravings - they really were all in my head and associated with rituals/habits.

Today. OMG. I have been a bad tempered witch at work which is totally out of character. However, other staff kept teasing me about my mood which made me smile and laugh as well.

Biggest bit of learning today was how I would normally start feeling stressed/irritable/under pressure and go and take a smoke to 'calm down'. Today I didn't do that so got on and dealt with whatever was causing me to feel stressed/irritable/under pressure resulting in a double achievement - not smoking and having dealt with a situation immediately.

I'm rambling now.....well done everyone.....we have made a fantastic start...one day at a time....we will do this....there a plenty of other people here who are testament to that. Thanks for the support. It really makes a difference.

    See you all soon
