Day 6 - Some progress!!!

Hi All,

Smoked my last cig on 16th Feb and have struggled since. Been coping as best I can with withdrawals but, sleepless nights are awful. I'm desperate for a good nights sleep, anyone else suffer from insomnia?

Stumbled across this site yesterday and spent a hour reading about other peoples experiences. Makes it a bit easier knowing you're not alone! Still craving like mad, but determined to give up after smoking 20 per day for 35 years.

Nights are worse for me as that's when I did most of my smoking. Like everyone else couldn't smoke in work so made up for it in the evening. Would go to bed early to ease the cravings, but as I said can't sleep!!

Thanks for all the tips and links to sites, they really do help.

Well here's to day 7 - a full week, never managed that before.

Maymee xx

Insomnia!!!!

Hi ppyordanov

Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions. As you say NRT may make insomnia even worse so just need to hang on in there. Easier said than done when I'm up at 6.30 for work. But hey, sure I'm not alone.

Hope you are weed free? If so for how long? You sound pretty positive anyway, just what I need at the moment.

Thanks again

Fantastic forum

Hi Lindylou,

My insomnia just as you describe. Like you hope it will begin to ease off. I am determined this time. It really is the longest I have ever gone without nicotine, so in a way quite proud but finding it difficult. Was really cranky when got back from work today. hubbie and daughter got it!!! But not going to use my mood as an excuse to return to smoking again.

I agree this forum is fab, it should be recommended by our GP's. Hope you get a better sleep also + here's to tomorrow. Another day on our journey.

You can do it.

Hi Maymee,

Good for you, already into day 7 without any nic. Keep it up, you're doing well. I am just completing day 4, and not feeling too bad at the mo: Having said that, I am using Champix. I find that it is helping a lot, but like you, I too suffer from insomnia.

I have tried many things during the many attempts to quit. I used to do 20 a day for almost 50 years, but got it down to about 8 - 10 over the last couple of years. If I am allowed to mention them, I have found Quitters very good. They put me on Champix, with my GP's approval and have offered me the Inhalator as well, if I need it. So along with them and this great site, I am very optimistic about finally quitting.

Good luck to you. We can all do it together. :)

I'm on day 8 and like you am using the 24 hour patches. I do take the patch off about half an hour before I go to bed though. I'm not sleeping too bad doing this. I have to slap a patch on the minute I get up though tbh I think they "kick in" pretty quick.
