Bad evening :(

Have had an argument with the OH and feeling very stressed, felt myself tempted to have a cig so i had a shower to try get through the craving and still feel rlly big craves! So iv washed up the dinner dishes and scrubbed my pans with ajax to try change my train of thought but im still longing for that ciggy so ur my last resort. Need some encouraging thoughts quick! 55mins til my 1 week mark!!!

  • Forget scrubbing pans and Ajax, you've got the computer, find something funny on it, play some music, funny videos, anything, but something to make you laugh or uplight your mood. A funny book, funny pictures, look in the general section here, there are some funny posts.

    Don't reach for a cigarette, it won't make your mood any better and you'll just be all bitter and twisted about it afterwards.

    Go on then, do something to make you smile,

  • In a position the same you're in now I did reach for a smoke. It didn't help, make me feel better. It made me feel much much worse. Kinda disappointed in myself, felt stupid and smelt a whole lot worse afterwards.

    I know it wouldnt make me feel better and thats the only thing stopping me. I've actually had 3 cigs left in the drawer next to my bed upstairs since my quit day one week ago. 3 still there so i guess i can safely say im holding in there!

    just read ure post, sorry to nosey in but just needed to say..

    If you smoked right now..you wouldnt feel any more less stressed infact you would feel more stressed eventually!! they would probably taste horrible & after youve smoked around 2 you will be left with a feeling of complete dissapointment, upset & stress. Its dosnt make everthing right it makes everything seem sad & grey... trust me..ive been there.

    Think of how much time youve given to ure quit.The planning beforehand... The excitement of day 1 the worry of day 2 & so on.......Dont give it up on smoking, Promise me....just say to urself wen it gets bad...that you will smoke tomorrow. I know it sounds awful but at them moments of really wanting one..by tomorrow u will feel a whole lot different.

  • im feeling much better now and all without the aid of a cig go me! Time for a celebratory cup of tea and bedtime for me!

    I've officially been given up for over a week now! Time to go see what week 2 looks like :o:o

    Thanks very much to those who helped. It was more reassuring than you realise. sometimes i just need to hear things from an outside view! Things that i already know but cravings cloud my judgement!! so thanks :D

    same... had a sh***y one too. c***p on the box (missus obsesssed with masterchef), 1/2 term kids rebelling against the 9.00 bedtime and did not even fancy a fag. went to bed, read "fight club". great book..
