Yeeha! Day 2

Hi everyone,

It's so nice to find somewhere like this to come and get some support. :D

I'm on Day 2 using 21mg patches and so far I'm doing ok. I had more cravings today than yesterday but am confident that I'll be even stronger tomorrow and I smell DIVINE....;)

I've smoked at least 20 a day since my mid 20s and have tried to quit before - the longest I lasted was 10 days but this time I'm determined.

One thing though - I'm using clear patches and they don't stay on as well as the 'normal' ones. I'm putting them on my upper arm, the skin is dry but they're not holding on too well and peeling at the edges....am I doing something wrong?

Looking forward to sharing progress with you all...

Welcome Jacqui,

Glad you like the place so far. Have a good rummage around and I'm sure you'll find loads of helpful information to help take you from here to non-smoker. Look in the links on my sig and see if there is any further information that may be of use too.

We kind of advocate the read, read, read and educate yourself method here...well in the main we do. It does seem to help a quit and make what can be a difficult time into a more bearable experience.

Don't know much about the patches but I'd suggest maybe some surgical tape to help them stick on.

Enjoy,

Cav

Hi there- good on you getting through those first 2 awful days. I'm not using the patches, but did try with them about 6 yrs ago- I have eczema and am allergic to plasters so had that same prob with them coming away (and itching like made so i'd scratch them off more), I ended up sticking them on the inside of my lower arm- it made my skin a bit sorer but they did stay put at least. If you have a stop smoking advisor check if there's a reason people tend to go for upper arm or if u can use other bits of skin with the same nicotine uptake. I have a mate who said he was saying kiss my arse to smoking so put patches on his butt cheek- he's still smoke free eight years on.....Pols xxx

Day 2 and still smoke free.:)

I'm using clear patches as well and mine turn up very slightly at the edges. If it gets too bad I will cut up a plaster to stick on them.:D I used one on my rear end yesterday, worked fine.:D

My cravings seem worse today as well. I'm going to come on here plenty and read a lot, it's amazing how inspirational stories help.:) Must admit I seem to be tasting things better already

Hi and welcome. Well done stopping smoking. I agree with the surgical tape idea, see if it works.

well done!!!

Hi There!!!

well done on day 2 - thats good going!!!

I used to put them on my outer thigh at the top as theres less friction for them to come off there... arms just used to itch and irritate me...

Make sure the patch of skin that you are applying it to is completely hair free, shave if necessary..... any hairs/stubble and its a pain.

Use surgical tape as others have suggested if its just not working.

Keep on stickin em on though!

Your doing fabulously!

Thanks for the lovely comments everyone. Guess I need to get myself over to the Day 3 thread now. :D

My patch stuck a bit better on the upper arm today - I made sure it was completely dry this morning after my shower. It still curled a little at the edges but hey....if I suddenly look and see no patch I'll think I'm doing amazingly well....hahahahahaha
