Day 2 here for me. Have a stinking headache but I don't think it's related to quitting. Not feeling that motivated but am moving forward. I fancy butter on toast with a couple of boiled eggs. None of that 'I can't believe you can't believe it's not butter rubbish' that the other half likes. I could smell my neighbours toast this morning. I love the smell of toast!
Day 2: Day 2 here for me. Have a stinking... - No Smoking Day
Day 2
Love boiled eggs n toast with real butter-uncut bread in great big doorstop slices
Franky keep edging forward-eating and nibbling will be your friends for a while,I ate everything that was not nailed down! It is all vital,to escape the gravitational pull of the Nicdemon. We are right with you!!!!!!!
Absolutely! Has to be uncut! Got me thinking about marmalade....I don't have much of a sweet tooth but some well toasted doorstops with marmalade and butter would go down well. I have not had that in years!
Do whatever it takes, Franky, eat whatever you want, but do not have a you-know-what! Yes, you may put on a bit of weight; I think we all do, with the extra food we eat. But, a bit of extra weight isn't nearly so harmful as fags, and you can sort out any weight issues later on.
I ate lots of chocolate and nuts at the start (well, I haven't really stopped actually :o), but because I feel so much more healthy without the fags, it's a good spur to sort out the other bits of my life that need sorting! I will lose a bit of blubber definitely. But also things like.....my skin is so much better since I quit and I treated myself to some new foundation (saw the lady in Boots). Between the two (the quit and the new foundation) I swear I look at least 10 years younger!
So, be extra kind to yourself during these first few days.

I so want some of that! 10 years! I'd take 5! I'm told I look young for my age but on close inspection I think the cigs have dulled my skin, if that makes sense. So hope I get better skin!

Wonder if the nuts helped? Better get me some nuts!
Omg hysterical! Franky they are trying to kill you off with cholesterol by the sounds of it lol in all seriousness do whatever you need to do although I am not a great believer in breaking one addiction and starting another (stares longingly at the chocolate :))
You are doing great, these first days are so hard and being here will help a lot, it saved me in the early days. Hang in there, keep posting *huggs*
Or a nice bacon and fried egg butty with brown sauce..
Your heart will hate you but your taste buds will love you..
I could actually eat one now! Another thing I've not had in years. Not the bacon and egg but the brown sauce.

Thanks Jess. I actually really worry about the weight side of things. I know putting on a few pounds is not the end of the world but I won't let it happen. I did not gain anything last time I quit. I used Allen Carr's Easy Way and he says not to substitute with food. Hard though because food suddenly seems way more interesting!

Give it another day or so and your taste buds and sense of smell will make food even more interesting. I wouldn't say I've substituted fags with food, I don't eat 20 times a day , but I do eat more now for the simple fact everything tastes so goooooooood. I've even started to be more adventurous with my cooking, the satisfaction I get from the kitchen being filled with beautiful aromas is priceless.
Me either Franky, many dont worry about the few extra kgs and I'm so jealous! For me putting on weight would be the worst thing and the thing most likely to drive me back to smoking!
I am like you eating a little more and you are right it smells good! I am trying to counter by taking a walk each night, plus I have also started treadmill running. Would recommend the walking at least, in the early days every time the cravings hit, I'd walk!

I'm seriously thinking of following a plan like South Beach. Lots of healthy foods which I like. I don't have a sweet tooth so I won't miss sweet stuff.

I could smell my neighbours toast this morning! I kid you not, it came into my bedroom through the window from down the street! lol
Ohhhh I love toast smothered in butter, nothing guaranteed to make the mouth water more than the smell of toast.
Well done on getting into day two. One day at a time will take you a long way.
