I'm on Day 14 of Champix and it's my quit day. It's 11 am here and so far so good. I've realised how much smoking punctuated my day though. I'm at a bit of a loss when I want a break from working.
How did others get through their quit day?
Cheers

Hi Kaz
Well done on your quit so far, it's pretty normal to feel at loss, i believe that feeling is not a crave but more like your body out of sync, If you think about it all those years of smoking during different times of the day become second nature to us, what you have to do whilst your quitting is re-educate your body and mind into new healthier habits such as keeping busy, reading exercising drink water constantly will help you through the days ahead until you are doing the same things as before only this time without a fag before or after anything you do .
good luck Kaz remember busy bee time
Thanks
Hi Bradders, really good advice - I'll do my best. Think the hardest part will be getting home tonight and not having the usual glass of wine and cigarette(s). I've decided to give the drinking a miss for a while too because I don't think I could do one without the other at this stage.
I feel so virtuous!
Hi Kaz....I can only reinforce what bradders has told you....I too gave up with champix....the first couple of days without smoking is the hardest.....it gets heaps better from there....don't hesitate to pm me if you have any probs, I am only to happy to help....and read all the links in peoples signatures there is some amazing info there that will reinforce why you are quitting....it really helps;)good luck Kaz
On my quit day I was travelling in a car with my OH from Rockhamton on my way home to Lismore......and he smoked like a f*^#@&* chimney the whole way.....you will be fine!!
Hi Kaz
Well done you on your first smoke free day I also used Champix and it was great
The first few days it can be tough filling in those fag breaks you're used too and many of us resort to cleaning anything that stands still

Day 2 and still standing
Hi Marg
Thank you for such a lovely welcome. Well, it's the morning of Day 2 and I've survived. Getting home from work and not having the usual glass of wine and cigarette was hard, but once I got past that it was OK. Think I need to throw myself into cooking as soon as I get home ... or go to the gym (that's a bit extreme). Didn't even want one this morning. Can't believe how effective this drug is.
Cheers everyone and thanks for your support.
Kaz
Great article
Just wanted to say thanks again Marg. I've just read John Polito's article - what inspiring information, and what a different take on things - not quitting, just becoming you. Made me feel stronger.
Cheers
Kaz
Well done Kaz getting to your stop day. Read loads to help you understand what is happening to you and help keep you stopped. Have a look at the posts around 6 months and above, there you will find lots of people who have succeeded and it will help you to know you definitely can.

cig breaks at work!!
i quit before taking the champix but can certainly remember feeling 'lost' when it was about 11am and 'fag break time'.
ive got a team to manage at work and a few of them smoke, i have other managers that i smoked ( ) with and i simply just asked them to not 'grab' me when they're going out, at 10.30 i deliberately started some work that i KNEW would distract me and take me into lunch time, or get someone to deliberately put a call through to me, drink ice cold water from the vending machine, play with my 'stress tangle' from the NHS quit kit, and that was day 1!! lol.
No honestly, try a new routine, i did and it really did help, i made a point, at what was normally my break time, what 'quit day' i was on which sparked a convo about how well i was doing + a slight change in routine. Im now on day 9 of no smokes and i dont even think about the 'fag breaks' at work now
Got me to day 3
Hi everyone
Just wanted to say thanks again for the support - you've all helped me get to day 3. I'm reading the forums every morning now, and at lunch time. I used to say that smokers were the nicest people. Now I'll say 'quitters' are even better!
BTW - I heard some people save up the money they used to spend on smokes and have a big treat at the end of the first year. Anyone done or thinking of doing this? Reckon I could fund a holiday to New Zealand with mine.
Kaz
Hey Kaz....I have saved $2200.00 to date and have bought myself a new computer and a new camera and a new notebook so far And I'm still saving
Day 4
Thanks Gaynor
How have you found it so far? I'm surprised that it's not as hard as I thought it would be - not easy, but not too hard. One nice thing - I'm starting to feel pretty good about myself, are you?
I reckon we can do this!
Cheers
Kaz
Thanks Gaynor

Not finding it too bad Kaz, about the same as you I think! This is the furthest I have come since my aborted quit last year so all good
So you should be feeling good about yourself, you have every reason to. The longer you quit the better you will feel. Up is the only way to go
Have a good day today, keep strong & I promise I will as well
Gaynor xx
Hi Kaz and Gaynor :D
