Hi Everyone :)

I have just found this forum and after reading some of the posts i find everyone here supportive and friendly, i will very soon be starting day 4 and after trying one patch and finding i was allergic to it and then trying the inhilator and that gave me headaches and sore throat i am going cold turkey and riding on my will power which i didn't think i had got :D

Friends and family didn't think i would last one day and i am pleased because i am stuborn i will show them all that i can do it because i don't want to be a smoker anymore.

Hi

Congratulation on becoming a non smoker!

Being stubborn (I call that determined) is great asset!

I was a heavy smoker for a very long time. I quit cold turkey 21 days ago. I used will power too.

I think it was the way to go for me. First 10 days were the hardest, the last 11 have been really good. I am no longer craving a smoke. My mood has settled down and I am feeling very positive. It is wonderful to be free of cigs.

This web site is all about quitting cold turkey. I found a lot of helpful information on it.

ffn.yuku.com/directory

Hang in there and be determined! I know you will do it!

Hi Rachel :)

4 days already that's great well done you just hang in there I promise it just keeps getting better

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

This link is good for the psychological part of quittingwhyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here

Love

Hi Rachel

4 days - that's great and, even better, you should be nearing the end of the worst of the physical cravings. I got a stress ball or two to help me through the first couple of weeks or so, it helped me with the 'doing something with my hands' thing.

You know you've made the best decision you could possibly have made for yourself and so day by day soon becomes week by week :-)

Good for you, I didn't think I could make it either but I did and so will you. We suggest you read as much as you can about the addiction to nicotine as this will help to change your thoughts about smoking and keep you stopped.

Best wishes.

Jackie

Hi Rachel,

Welcome to this amazing forum which will give you lots of encouragement and support required when giving up. This forum is my lifeline at the moment as I'm on day 6 and seem to be on it as much as I can especially when I feel tempted by the evil nicodemon.......

Wishing you much luck going forward with the CT, that is sure willpower, I'm on the patches which seem to be proving a winner for me, only really need them on for about 12 hours a day if that so I suppose I'm not solely reliant upon them.

See you have joined the New Year Revolutions me too, I hope to see alot of people join as I'm sure there are alot of January quitters.
