Read ahead...

I know it sounds daft, but read ahead - and read lots so you know what to expect/look forward to.

Many, many people have trodden this road before you - make use of their experiences. Both on this site and on some of the other excellent ones out there.

I notice a lot of posts at the moment where people are struggling a little or wanting answers to general questions like "how long will I feel like this?" or "when will it get better?".

I used to find (and still do) that a great way to find the answers and to reassure myself was to read ahead in the other sections.... reading the experiences of others will help to "normalise" the way you are feeling and help to let you know that it really does get better.

And it does get better - I promise.

Thanks Stuart

It doesn't sound daft at all giving advice to 'read ahead'. It's good sound logical advice and I've found in the last couple of weeks I've been doing a lot of 'reading ahead':)

One thing I'm feeling guilty about though is 'reading and running' and not replying - hope to correct that bit by bit in time.

Pol

Yeah! Reading about other peoples experiences is what kept me "sane" in the beginning of my quit. Knowing that others have been trough a lot of the stuff I was going trough helped. Another thing was seeing that everybody has something different in their quit, so my extremes didn't seem so extreme.

It also helped me to know that it WILL get better! It just has to. And I am so extremely thankful to this forum!!!

I'd like to know whether I can expect the same energy levels in one year as I do now in this 2nd week. I really like having the new energy. So, is it going to be so exuberant like this from now on or is this just a short term side effect?

You keep the energy, but you get used to it.... so don't get complacent about it, stay active and make the most of it :D
