Feeling so much better!

after the awful state I was in yesterday, I followed my fellow quitters' various advice and I am pleased today I managed some toasts for breakfast and the nausea didn't appear! however I have now a mighty headache, which I know I would get even if I wasn't on Champix!

it's a sunny day, it's Saturday and I am feeling great on my 5th day without a fag! :D

Corinne

Started Champix on 7th October

Stopped smoking on 12th October

hi, well done, its awful when you get the sickness from champix. it really does make a difference to eat and have a big glass of water. I find the more water you take it with the better. Apart from that i supposed it does really help. I dont think i could do it on anything else like patchs etc

How you feeling apart from the sickness, i seem to be stuck with a terrible taste in my mouth which someone has said is due to the champix. I will be glad when thats gone.

does anyone know when that goes?

Anyway corrine let us know how your doing?

Hi Jane,

the only side effects I seem to be having for sure are the nausea and loss of appetite... I sleep very restlessly but I did when I smoked anyway.

haven't got a strange taste in my mouth but I guess it's different for all.

I'm feeling really proud of myself for going almost 5 days without even a craving. I never got that far with patches or cold turkey

and I just love this forum, it's fantastically helpful :D

hope you are doing well Jane :)

This forum is amazing, i work at a gp surgery and keep telling all the nurses about this web site so they can recommend it to their patients that are wanting to stop smoking. Its helpful talking to your smoking nurse but they have no idea as most of them havnt even smoked, so how can they understand what we are going through but on here we all understand and thats more supportive than anything someone who has never smoked can say to you.

Brilliant. So pleased the nausea has stopped. I know it's hard to eat in the morning (it is for me) but it's got to be worth it.

Bon courage!

unfortunately I've just had my dinner and took the evening tablet and I don't feel so good :( ... Bloody hell must we suffer so much?! thankfully I haven't been sick this time but boy, that nauseous feeling is awful!

apart from that, I've had a great 5th day, went swimming and then went into a cleaning/ tidying up frenzy :p ... strange!

I'm not feeling low at all tonight, just tired and really happy my 5th day is coming to a close :D

Jane, I don't see a smoking nurse, I see a Fresh Start counsellor, it's one to one once a week, she's an ex smoker although she was never on Champix, it's a good focus for me and I can call her if I ever feel the need... it's feels like being in the AA!!

will you share her with me coz mine is actually useless. Never smoked in her life and somehow she seems to know all the wrong things to say. At my first appintment she made med feel so crap that i had failed in the past but then told me that it takes a smoker an average of seven attempts to stop smoking. Last week when i went back i cant even remember her saying well done (what a bitch) lol

I would even like to think i could have a go at the smoking counsellor thing in a few months when i am a bit less neurotic. ha ha

Anyway is it day 6 now for you?

Hi Jane,

your nurse seems a real laugh!! don't worry about her, there's lots of people on this forum and your life to tell you you're doing great, and you know it yourself :)

I was lucky really, there were some people from Fresh Start at my local Sainsburys and I had a chat with them, they took my details and said I'd be contacted shortly, 3 weeks later I started seeing a counsellor near where I work but I have to say Champix and this forum are the real help.

So I'm on Day 6 without a death stick and feel really proud, unfortunately the nausea is awful even though I had toasts this morning. it's not so bad at the weekend as I can go back to bed until I feel better - my 2 sons are supportive - but it's really awkward at work. I've also lost 2 KG which I never would have expected when I decided to quit! :D

I hope you're doing good ... it's a beautiful day today, sunny and smoke free! ;)

I also used Champix but I never got the nausea. What I did get was very scattered thoughts and the vivid dreams / nightmares.

I found that the dreams disappeared after a couple of weeks. The scattered thoughts never did.

I also found that I couldn't always tell what was Champix and what was quitting smoking. I think Champix caused me anxiety but I'm not sure. Now I'm not using champix and I'm having mood swings but I think that is my life. '09 has been a very rough year for me and my family but we're getting through it.

My husband was going to quit with Champix and has the prescription but after everything he's heard he may do cold turkey. I guess it's up to him.

Have a great smoke free day!
