  • Morning Kath,

Well done on your decision to stop, I too stopped using champix and am now on day 18 (I think - have lost count) I found I smoked for the first 2 weeks using champix, however not the same amount and by my quit day I was down to almost nothing..........the wonder pills take the edge of the cravings but you will need willpower when the cravings hit.

To help stop the triggers I changed as much as I could of my daily routine, moved all the furniture around to a different position and nibbled on sunflowerseeds (which I think helped). Also was on here a lot reading and chatting to others - which helped A LOT

    Well done xxx

  • MANY THANKS KATE13, REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT & TO KNOW YOU ARE DOING SOOOO WELL!!;)

THE IDEA OF MUNCHING ON THE SUNFLOWER SEEDS SOUNDS A GREAT IDEA..I SHALL GET A HEAP!! AS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT PUTTING ON WEIGHT AS NOT SLIM ALREADY!! BE VERY INTERESTED IN WHAT OTHERS NIBBLE ALSO.

HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO READ MANY ON THE FORUM AS YET.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK KATE & THANKS AGAIN,

    KATH XX

  • Kath

I am on day 11 of not smoking using Champix. i honestly thought i could never go a full 24 HR without a smoke but i did.

Champix are very good as they really take the edge of the cravings, you will still need will power but nothing in comparision to other methods.

as for substitutes i did go the choccie route for the first few days i am not trying to substitute the choccie with Diet coke and seeds, with still a little bit of cake each day. am hoping next week to get my eating habits back on track.

good luck with taking the tabs

  • Hi Kath you did the best thing joining this forum it is great for everything related to stopping smoking as there is always someone who can relate to you or your situation.

I quit using champix and have just completed 4 weeks today it has helped a lot, my OH stopped with champix and is nearly at two months he had smoked for 38 years with out any breaks and didnt think he would ever be able to stop.

    Post often :)

  • Hi Kath :D

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

I also used champix as an aid to quitting and found it really good, try not to dread your quit day, the thought of it is definitely worse that the day

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

    Best Wishes

  • Hi Kath,

Hope your doing ok, as I said in previous thread I too stopped using Champix and like you was dreading my stop day but honestly you'll stop without realising it, as I said before I smoked for nearly 2 weeks of taking the pills but didn't realise I was smoking less and less and by the time my quit day came I was down to just a few puffs and even those tasted horrible but I was feeling thron and didn't want to give in so had to have them just to see if I liked them.....if you see what I mean :)

You can do it and we are all here for you xxx
