I'm only on day 8 of my champix and am down to 10 a day from a 30 a day habit...so am looking on hear for people to give me inspiration for when I'm down to zero a day................even although I'm soooo looking forward to being a no smoker the thought of it is scarin the beejesus out of me.
Jim is right, keep going, it's got to get easier.
Hi Suzy
I agree with B B if you really wanted to smoke again you wouldn't be here tonight asking for help you'd have already been to the shops and be smoking right now
You're over two months into your quit do you really want to throw it all away now, to go back to day 1 and struggle to get where you are now? of course you don't and that's exactly what will happen if you smoke
Don't do it Suzy for your sake as well as your Sons'Hang in there this will pass very soon
Love

He he all getting stressed, lets all take a deep breath
You WILL get through this, and you would be so disappointed in yourself if you lapsed now. Think positive and each time something is stressing you tell yourself that whatever it is smoking is not the answer.
You owe it to yourself to stay strong and not throw away the past 10 weeks, focus on what you have achieved so far (in the face of adversity) and you also know that you owe it to your son.
You might be stressy at the moment but in a week or so you'll be wondering what the fuss was.
Hang in there.
Nic
We all have crappy days but smoking WILL make your days crappier. The best bet is to wait out the low and be patient for happier and easier days to come..... what are your other alternatives?? Go through this whole thing AGAIN after you smoke a while OR you make the decision to smoke the rest of your life..... If you crave one ask yourself if you want to smoke for the rest of your life..... if no, just keep going forward and rant and shout on here all you want
PS Read up as much as you can.... we all need reminders.... I had a low myself last week and read up a lot again..... don't endulge in missing fags, remind yourself instead how GREAT it is that you don't have to feed an addiction every hour on the hour!! Take care you!!
thanks
i didnt give in and smoke last night, if i can quit smoke in the circumstances i did then i can stay quit when im stressed for no good reason, i was adviced not to quit smoking when i quit due to extreme circumstances but i wanted to do it and this was by far the worst quit. there is only 2 or 3 people on the forum that will understand what im on about, i am just so glad that i have you lot on this forum to rant at when things get tough. anyway thanks guys!!!
I'm very glad you hung in there and got through a bad day
You will look back on this post and wonder what was going on very soon
Are you keeping a quit journal? If not, it might be an idea to start one. I found it very useful on a bad day to look back at either good days or how far I had come....
It really helped me through some hard moments.
hi Suzy,
Well done for not giving in and breaking your quit. Come and rant on here whenever you like - better than putting a cig in your mouth for sure.
Keep strong
Deke
i sure will
i will i think i was just under pressure yesterday had a maths exam this morning and i was just worrying about it but its ut the way now so things have calmed down.
Hi Kate
Sorry I missed this as well
You're doing just fine and down from 30 a day to 10 on champix is great
B B is right in what he says about it
I also used champix as did many others on here there is no hard and fast rule for stopping completely
You're on day 8/9 so only just gone on to the higher dose,in a couple of days they'll probably start to taste funny but you can quit qnytime in the 2nd week
I don't think it would really matter if it was a few days after that OK, you'll know when you're ready to stop them
I stopped completely after 10 days but some people take the whole fortnight and I suspect some may take longer
I would like to advice you to remember that champix is not a miracle drug, it's an aid like any other and you'll still need some willpower
If you want to know anything else fell free to PM me and I'll help/answer if I can OK
Love

Hi Suzy Hun

It may be a three month thing some people find month three a bit hard but Once you pass this there will be no stopping you. Stick with it mate you are a winner.xxxxx
Thanks
All your advise is really helping, thanks guys and reading all the forums about Champix is also helping........am now down to 2 puffs this morning (the hardest time) and that's it..............woooo hoooo. Do have quite a number of wabbles/cravings through the day at work but the guys here are keeping me on the straight and narrow
Marg.........yes I was hoping Champix was going to be a miracle cure/drug and have now realised that it's not but it sure helps, have tried quitting before just by going cold turkey and lasted all of 4ish hours............rubbish eh......I have no willpower???? But I must say that this time am determined to be a fully fledged non smoker........(they used to annoy me)
thanks again all those who have encouraged me, tomorrow am going for a completely no smoke day
Hi Kate

Hi Bex
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
I also quit with the help of Champix and found it very good,it really does help but you'll still need willpower as well
The way you're feeling a mixture of excitement and fear is perfectly normal most of us feel that way about quitting Promise
Post often to let us know how you're getting on, have a moan or a rant, for any reason at all pretty much anything goes on here
Best Wishes
Marg xx
Hi Bex,
the first day I started taking Champix i felt nothing at all and smoked my normal amount, made me feel a little sick but that soon passed, make sure you take it on a full tummy and with plenty of water, especially with the 1mg ones in the 2nd week as they make me feel quite sick for most of the morning if taken on empty stomach........
anyway, back to the results of Champix, as I said the first day nothing but I found that over the next few days i was forgetting to smoke my normal amount  and when I got to the 2nd week every time I lit up they tasted funny and I felt really sick, (like a hangover type sickness) so now.......and on my 12th day am down to zero, I won't kid you this is the first day I have come to work without an emergency fag in my bag and am quite panicky but am determined to stop.........oh.... and am finding it hard to sleep but I don't know if that's the Champix or withdrawal symptoms.
GOOD LUCK and keep posting, cause I find reading these helps too
Hi Kate
You're doing just fine well done on day 12
The first day without taking an emergency fag to work with you, don't feel panicky, you'll be fine
The bad sleeping is fairly universal no matter what we use or don't use and is because you're getting more oxygen into your blood and therefore to your brain than it's used to this will pass as your body readjusts to it and starts to heal OK
Keep it up
Love

Hey Suzy! I'm coming to the end of Week 11 on Champix and I totally understand where you are coming from. The thought of next week coming off the Champix is scaring the cr*p out of me! Maybe we could chat? I think although at different stages, we are both having a similar feeling about it.
kaz
we could i could do with chattin to someone who is at the same or simular stage to me. there is only a week or 2 between our quit.
Don't worry...be happy...
I start Champix tomorrow!! Ive now been sat here for 2 hours reading up everything i could find about it!! Im not sure whether i feel scared or excited how confusing!!
Ive had a 20 a day habit for 20 odd yrs now but always go way over 20 on a weekend and it now feels like its taken its toll!!
Anyway good luck Kate an everyone else but would love to hear from anyone in the early stages of champix!! Ive never used the internet as a networking thing to try help this addiction!!
Hey Bex! I am on Week 11 on the Champix and I might be able to help you out a bit along the way. It does have a different effect for different people, but I am finding on here that the majority of how I felt, was very similar to a lot of people, and this might help you to as you progress. I come off it next week and then I am on my own, that's scarey for me too as much as it is scarey for you now. GOOD LUCK and drop me a message any time.
